If they win their last 2 games, this will be (tied for) the 3rd best record for a Rockets team in franchise history. And before you even see what they do in the playoffs, some here want Mchale fired. SMH.
I want to say this after a great victory... FIRE MCHALE !!! He's a dumbass coach that cannot maximise this team's potential and will hold us back from winning a championship!
headscratcher First, Daniels has barely played with the team. No chemistry Second, how many times do we need to see him fail at it? geez, these coaches don't do any adjustments
But here's the thing. This team SHOULD be competing for the 3rd best record in Rockets franchise history. Look at the talent they've got. Before the season started, 55 wins didn't seem like a crazy goal(barring a catastrophic injury to someone like Harden). The addition of Dwight Howard coupled with the continuing development and maturation of the rest of the team had most people projecting the Rockets to win in the low-to-mid 50's and finish in the top 4. So we're right where just about everyone thought we'd be and that's fine. Where McHale is on the hot seat is after the regular season. Because if the Rockets win 53-55 games only to flame out in the first round, this will have been a wasted year. The higher win total is meaningless if you're not also gaining valuable playoff experience. You could make the case that some of these players have missed out on a lot of that already thanks to the collapse in 2012 which caused them to miss the postseason and the collapse a year ago which landed them in the 8th seed against OKC instead of getting the 6th seed and drawing a far more favorable opponent in Denver. I'm not on the "Fire McHale" bandwagon yet because obviously the man has to be given the opportunity to show what he's capable of in this year's playoffs. But watching the Rockets struggle badly down the stretch for the 3rd consecutive season under his leadership coupled with the near total abandonment of team defense since Sampson's departure does cause one to question what strengths(if any) McHale brings to the table as a head coach.
While I agree that the mid to low 50s win total was a reasonable goal, I'd argue that it doesn't make it any less meaningful or impressive. Adding DH changed the makeup of this team a lot. You could clearly see the struggles early on with chemistry, post entry passes, pace, etc. And I wasn't expecting a WCF appearance this year. Maybe I'm a pessimist. Maybe I'm jaded. I just didn't see the team coming together soon enough to survive that far. That being said, if we make it out out of the first round and compete in the second I'd call that a successful first year. McHale and the team have a lot to prove in the playoffs.
Only if you ignore all the positives the team has achieved under his tenure and overemphasize a stretch of mediocre play which just happens to be near the end of the season. The expectations of the organization were made very clear by Morey in very straight forward terms. "Our goal this year is to be get home court advantage for the playoffs and make a run at the WCF" As far as McHale is concerned, so far, so good.
No need to send me anonymous rep breh. Why you always gotta be doing that. I'm not going to fight you, hell im a real nice guy in person. I know my intelligence intimidates you but doesn't get intimidated by it?
LOL there is some McHale apologist who has been sending me anonymous rep with insult filled lines and name calling for a good while. Pretty sad.
Is someone pulling that again? I "earned" one of those myself once. I always thought it was jtr or larsv8 (probably the former), the main McHale backers on here. ...for the third season in a row. Oh, my goodness. Cersei isn't (wasn't) even this indulgent with Joffrey. Well, the difference being that McHale is, like, a super-duper-uper nice guy. Can't coach worth a s***, though. Well, we've been jerking that knee for three seasons now, so.... (sigh) Knee-jerking is ephemeral. Sucking up is for life.
If you want him fired you best root for us getting swept in the first round. That's the only way he gets canned. If you root for that then **** you.
Probably not jtr. He's taken an extended break from CF after he basically humiliated himself last week.
Haha I wonder who sends those, I got one myself. I'm not even that anti McHale but you can't even criticize the guy.
McFail is Vinny Del Negro. The Clippers won a playoff series and made a couple of playoff appearances under VDN and he had his defenders and apologists until the end, but LAC still got rid of him and upgraded to Doc Rivers. The Clips won 56 games last season under VDN and have won 56 games so far this season under Doc, but you'd have to be blind not to see how much better this team is than the one last year that was coached by Del Negro. It's in a fan's nature to be a homer, but a true fan is objective, accepts the flaws within his team, and realizes that they must be improved upon in order to vault them into true championship contention.
Really? Missed that. JTR just seems to like to get himself into trouble I have seen him around this week though I don't like criticizing McHale and generally think it's unwarranted given how well the rockets have done . But i have to say i was not a fan of his decision to play Bev for extended minutes the other night. IMO the risk of further injuring Bevy outweighed benefit of keeping him in for so long.
