I'm in same boat as you guys. I want to upgrade but there are so many choices now. I have an Samsung S3, my wife and son have an iPhone 4s. We're all eligible to upgrade. I debated going back to Apple just to keep us all in the same ecosystem and be able to Facetime etc. But I really like the large screen of the S5 and the Note 3. Too many choices!
Amazon has a Note 2 (Sprint) for .01 or Note 3 for $150 Never had a problem with a group text . I have two groups , one for NBA talk and one for NFL talk. We go at it too. I used to use ChompSMS, now I use EvolveSMS. No issues. Great deals are available with all carriers for the Note 2/S4 (for wife and son) and Note 3 (for you). Hangouts is great for video chat.
I have an S2 and am thinking about upgrading. The S5 is on my list, but I'll have to mess around with one in person before I decide. I was kind of hoping the larger iPhones would be out just to check them out, but apparently those won't be out until the fall. Since I'll be getting a new car this year (most likely a TLX), I want to see if it'll support something like CarPlay or whatever Google/Android was calling their version of it - I forget.
Someone was showing me their nokia phone, forgot the model but looked like the 1520. Was impressed, may look into the nokia line when ready to upgrade.
I almost bought one. I love Nokia design. I like the Windows OS. I just don't like the lukewarm app support (for my needs anyway). The 1520 is a massive phone, though. lol.
What's weird about that one is that Honda/Acura announced that deal with Apple, then went on to join Android's Open Auto Alliance. So there's really no telling which the TLX will use when it does implement something like that.
Honda is also in a group that supports MirrorLink which in turn will allow Microsoft's operating system to run in vehicles. What if the car could run any of them? Who knows if the TLX will even support any of them out of the gate.
ordered my S5 last week, so it should be in any day now. gonna be quite an upgrade going from my iphone 3 to an s5
ure iphone is gona feel like a dinosaur compared to the S5 lol. im still undecided between the S5 & upcoming iphone 6... http://www.chaaky.com/chaaky/18
My wife just ran over her S3 the other day with her car, so she needs a new phone. We're with T-Mobile and they have this "no contract" plan where we pay $0 down but $28 extra per month for 24 months for the S5 confused: WTF?). That pisses me off, when we each bought the S3 we paid $200 per phone and the unlimited data plan was $120/month. So if we get an S5 we will be paying almost $150/month. Has anyone or is anyone buying thru T-Mobile's "no contract" plan? And do you think it's a better deal than other carriers?
Unless you are one who like to get the latest and greatest phone every year, the no contract plan is a waste.
Or you're someone who doesn't need the latest and greatest phone, and like the family plan savings from T-Mobile.
You will enjoy it! T mobile has them in stock. I was shocked! thought they would sell out.. coming from outdated S3 this phone is really nice !
Picked up the HTC M8 yesterday. I made the switch from a Nokia 920. It's a very slick phone. Kinda felt bad for making the jump from WP8 as a I was a day one buyer when the new Windows phone came out but got sick of being left in the dust in the app department. The M8 is great looking seems pretty fast too.
For those with the M8 and the S5...what kind of battery results are you experiencing? That's becoming pretty much the biggest thing I look for in a phone nowadays.
I got a free Lumia 1520 from my Build conference gift card. Should have it Monday or Tuesday... I'll write a review up for it. It'll need to be amazing for me to give up my Lumia 1020. Also, Windows Phone 8.1 should be released to developers this week. Can't wait.
