Something must be wrong with that translation because the way i remember it was that an eagle was found dead, BUT it was still clenching the fish, so although it didn't get to it eat, it never gave up and kept hold of it. Or something like that lol..
I did a bit of research and I think DMO gave the quote in English which is why the "[an]" was added by the editor. He did not have a firm grasp on English at the time (not that he does now) but I assume he wanted to make a point about not being able to take the fish from the eagle's "cold dead hands."
