You can call this knee jerk and with such a small sample size I won’t disagree. But I've seen enough to beleive Pittman should start over Asik. Pittman plays within the flow of the offense and try to over create when Harden is on the floor. He knows his role and that is to move the ball around, pass the ball to Harden, attack on fastbreaks, shoot the open 3 and take the scraps left over. He does all of that and some. He is inexperienced and I expect him to improve but tonight he has done most of that well. Why he should start over Asik is rather obvious. Asik plays better attacking the basket, the same role Harden has. Asik plays better against the second string. Asik makes too many turnovers in the paint. It’s like he is trying too hard to play hero ball. We need him to play a little hero ball with the second unit when Harden is out. We need very little of that to start the game. Pittman plays better team ball. Also the difference between Howard as a starter and Asik is not close. This is not a Asik is a joke thread. This is about what is best for the Rockets and that is what I see in this game today. We miss Howard and Asik as a starter hurts this team as a drop off in starting unit but also hurts the bench as we lose a scorer off the bench.
