Lance Z influences national people when he talks about the Texans. He indicated Tom Savage might be the guy and now all of a sudden he shows up in a mock to the Texans by a national writer despite getting no previous love.

Id rather pray and do voodoo to get either Bridgewater or Manziel to fall before getting Tom freaking Savage

Man, if Barr fell to the second, that would be too much to pass with that 1st pick in the second. Wow:eek:!! Clowney and Barr???? That would be incredible!! But, alas, Barr will not fall to the second.

Yea he does... As soon as Lance started saying Tom Savage's name he starts appearing in mock drafts. Pancakes seems to have the same effect on the NFL network as well.

It wouldn't be that far fetched, as it stands he's probably set to go in the mid to late 20's. I don't think we'd go Clowney then Barr though even if he did fall because Clowney would be slotted at one of the OLB spots in base packages and Barr can only play OLB. Also, I think a 2nd round QB is most likely.

There are too many good players (based on this mock) to draft Savage or really any of the remaining QB's in round two. I'd rather just load up on D with LB or Truit and take QB in 3rd. I don't see much difference in 2nd and 3rd round QB talent.

Well it just depends who drops. I think that the top 7 or 8 QB's in this draft are all pretty much on the same level so I'd use that second pick on one of them.

Yeah. I too have soured on the QB's. It wouldn't be a bad idea to wait for one in the third. Unless of course one of the top three drops to the second.

Joe Horrigan on LT's senior season:

"The following season, even though he was already drawing double- and even triple-team
coverage, he logged 69 unassisted tackles. Twenty-two of those tackles were losses behind the line of
scrimmage and 16 were quarterback sacks. He also recovered three fumbles. His outstanding play
earned him All-America honors and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year."

    https://www.profootballresearchers.org/Coffin_Corner/21-04-809.pdf

All that and LT was selected #2 overall, ironically behind South Carolina running back George Rogers.

Clowney may turn out to be great, but I think it's pretty low risk that we'd be passing on the next all-time great.

I'm starting to think the Texans are purposefully playing up Clowney so they can trade down and get Borltes and some extra picks. Then say Bortles was their guy all along and they would have taken him #1.
