This. People wonder whether Colbert will be in character. Honestly, I've always felt his shtick wasnt too far from what he really was: an annoying, overly sarcastic, and smug person.

Always liked Ferguson. I think he would have done well.

how was it proven disingenous? Most Asians were offended. I know I was. You don't need to denigrate another group to make that kind of point. But hey freedom of speech and all that, but I'm pretty sure the twitter account wouldn't have made a statement about "fudge packing queers" even in jest.

Yeah, he was risking the farm on that one. What, he was hoping to get a show on Fox News or a talk radio gig? I'm sure his fellow fudge packers got turned on when he took on Bush

Colbert makes jokes about gays all the time. Do you not know that he is Ace of Ace and Gary the "Ambiguously Gay Duo"?

To me, it wasn't a big deal that he hosted the WH Correspondent's dinner. No no no, the bigger issue was that he was asked. Seriously? How dumb can you be?

    Silly, silly politicians.

Ferguson has said, during his show, that he doesn't want the gig, but i'm not sure how serious he was about it. i think he'd have to change it up to fit in at that time slot and he probably doesn't want to tone it down.

I'm glad Ferguson is staying at the Late Late Show - I don't think a talking robot skeleton with a mohawk would go over well with the old folks who still, for some reason, dominate the way success at 10:30 is perceived.

He's reportedly getting a $5 million payout if CBS does not pick him to fill Dave's spot so he's not going to be crying anytime soon.

We're not used to a president that doesn't mind being made fun of (or making fun of himself). Bush loved to make fun of himself.

Comics at Obama's dinners are more like court jesters, they go after his enemies (Trump, etc.). They are on Obama's team to begin with, and also don't want to damage their careers going after him.

Ferguson is more spontaneous, more self-deprecating, has a better repoire with guests and the audience, and loves his country. He would have been a better choice.

I think it would have bombed. No one under 40 was gonna watch him and his show isn't anything "new".

As for Colbert, idk how you could come to that conclusion, he very rarely speaks out of character, so idk how anyone could know.

well let's see, the man has rarely broken character in what 8 years? Then he practically disowns his own characters twitter account because of something that many of his white liberal audience seems to think is funny and representative of his character? please.

I agree. I looked at this Colbert fellow's Wikipedia page and it says he is a white male of privilege from South Carolina. I don't like to stereotype, but those two things added up scream racist. I don't think we should be giving a person who hates Asians a much larger platform than he already has.

Are people really still on the racist thing? He's a comedian on a comedy network. It was satire.

I found it funny that some people actually expected his show to be cancelled...not realizing that South Park is on the same network I guess and it has done MUCH MUCH worse as far as racial jokes goes.

That's you, stereotyping without knowing. It might be hint to the real character of his family that his mother was pregnant with him while she attended The March On Washington. You might remember, it was kinda a big deal in it's day. For a white Catholic woman from SC to attend was probably difficult for her within her own community.

Yeah if COLBERT HE DID HATE ASIANS, that would be bad. But since no one who saw the piece, and no one who isn't paid by outrage clicks thinks that, we cool.

Who the hell hates Asians anyway? why?

You still don't have the story straight, can't take your argument seriously until you can at least have all the facts in order.
