I don't understand how it's any different than mourning any other performer or person of note. Their performances signify positive experiences and memories for lots of people, so taking a couple of seconds on random tweets or news message boards lamenting the peformers' demise seems perfectly rational.
If they decide to do it then they think its 'worth it'. Look, the information is there for all to see the risks involved.. is not like these 'entertainers' are in the dark about it. You also have a ton of extremely successful wrestlers who do not do things like steroids- Mick Foley for example. When the America Revolution occurred, the patriots determined that 'freedom' WAS worth the insanely high risks attached to it.. please note that word (risk) oh and this word (freedom).. while your at it, note where the people we are discussing reside (United States)
My dad lost a lot of money betting against Ultimate Warrior with the bookies in the 80's and 90's so life was a little bit tougher for us growing up. So I'm not terribly torn over Ultimate Warrior's death today.
It would be sad too find out it was drugs, especially given his self-righteous on the matter. Still surprising how close he was to becoming the marquee figure after Savage's marriage and persona fell apart, when McMahon just cut off the limb and reinvented the whole product. It's like a reverse Leno where Hogan was won out by being the only sensible, honest person there.
Why make any drugs or actions illegal then? If we are going to allow everybody the freedom of choice, regardless of the risks, why censor or limit anything? In this case, people don't understand or believe the risks until its too late... young men are trading in nearly half their lives for a chance of a few years of fame. You're naive if you think people still aren't juicing, and tragic early deaths will continue to happen each and every decade.
Not to mention, back in the territory days... if a wrestler were challenged to a fight outside the ring by anyone... he had to make sure he won and won squarely.... or he'd be out of a job...
The last segment I saw was that he wasn't using illegal drugs, he was using legal drugs to control the damage that he did on his body
It isn't steroids. It is all of the pain killers and speed they took to perform like maniacs all the time. Plus the recreational drugs they do because of the lowlifes typically involved in wrestling.
people mentioning artists.... it's simple... Fame is a killer... it's horrible... It's isolating... it's a worship of superficiality... and a crusher of souls... It's not an emotionally natural thing for a human being to belong to the public... and worse, it's entirely in a frivolous, perfunctory, fickle way... That's why I admire genuine artists that don't seek fame, don't desire it, certainly... don't praise it.... but, are willing to endure that to contribute genuine art to mankind...
Without googling can you tell me what makes it worse than other injectable anabolic steroids often abused?
Do you have any statistical data to back this up or are you just assuming? This isn't 1986... The WWE is very strict with their drug testing, way more strict than the NFL or NBA. The biggest risk in wrestling nowadays is concussions and the WWE just spent $120 million on brain research and development of ways to treat concussions, and they have lead the way as far as brain injuries go. The NFL wouldn't have done anything to make their game safer had it not been for Chris Nowitski and the WWE. I have a feeling you are thinking or wrestling as it used to be, not as it is today. Sure I have no doubt Ultimate Warrior did steroids back in his day but I don't think you can judge the business in 2014 because of that.
“No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own. Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them bleed deeper and something larger than life then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized. By the story tellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did live forever. You, you, you, you, you, you are the legend makers of Ultimate Warrior. In the back I see many potential legends. Some of them with warrior spirits. And you will do the same for them. You will decide if they lived with the passion and intensity. So much so that you will tell your stories and you will make them legends, as well. I am The Ultimate Warrior. You are the Ultimate Warrior fans and the spirit of Ultimate Warrior will run forever.”
Hall lived with Jake Roberts at DDP's "accountability crib." It was there that both Scott and Jake got clean, sober and well. Hall finally got all the surgeries he needed. Now he is the bionic bad guy.
derp its $1.2 million hahaha but still something. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2013/05/16/wwe-concussions-chris-nowinski-research-sports-legacy-institute-cte/2178667/
I'm guessing the toll these people take as wrestlers meant that they were prescribed painkillers often. When you take the hits that they do (fake or not, it has to hurt tremendously...), you can easily get addicted to painkillers and other drugs because it numbs the pain momentarily. I'm guessing that's why there are so many people that either failed drug tests or were suspended because of the drugs. With that said, any death should not be taken lightly.
