I'll be the first to admit on this board that I was getting a little choked up watching Rudy give his speech.

Man I really felt for the guy :(. Dude has had some serious ups and downs in his life. I hope this "step back" helps get Rudy well again and his focus stays more on his health and curing cancer than basketball.

    Get well soon Rudy!!!

Me too. I wanted to watch the whole thing, but then i had to take my sis to her Shao Lin class. Good thing it was on the radio. When Rudy started choking up, I felt really sad for the guy.

I agree. I've thought it was time for rudy to go but I really felt for him when I heard the emotion in his voice. I know what its like to be competative, successful and then have to walk away. He convinced me that this was his choice. The rumors that the phrase, "I'm glad Les handled it this way," meant it was a force out but from listening to rudy this may refer to Les being pissed at Rudy for walking away. Then again if its just Rudy covering for the Rockets I vote Rudy T for an Oscar.

At least he walks with a cool 12 million.

Now that is a way to go.

Sure he was forced out. But look at it this way: Les is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to win a championship - even if it means asking a legend and icon to step down.

ALSO...Les didn't get rid of Rudy entirely. Rudy worked for the Rockets for years before he was head coach, and he's still gonna be working for the Rockets after stepping down. That's called loyalty - both by Rudy and Les.

It was very hard to watch Rudy break down, but when I feel bad about I just remind myself that we're still gonna have him in the organization, and that he may be a better contributor to our future success if he has a different job with the Rockets.

As I listened and saw Rudy T wiping tears from his eyes, I was overcome by emotion, and tears begin to well up in my eyes, and course down my cheeks, that was one of the saddest moments I can remember since I started watching sports.

Well, if nothing else it feels good to talk about how sad you are. I think it was so hard because he is the ONLY coach that I have ever watched on the Rockets side-lines, I didnt move here till 92.

    God Bless Rudy T!

Where was Mr. Alexander? It would have been nice if he had been there to thank Rudy for all his years as a player and coach. As I watched I thought what a class act Rudy was, and how classless Les was.

man fo real. it was so hard to see rudy break down like that. he has done so much in houston that its so painful and so unbelieveable that he's not anymore the "general". just seeing him holding back his tears the best way he can is so devastating. :( i wish him all the best especially his health! get well soon rudy t! thanks fo all the great memories!

guys, no one can deny rudy's a legend but come on...

    four pitiful years w/o playoffs...

in any other company or business he would have been canned long time ago...

    its called reality...

at least it seems from reports he is getting well, and health is the most important thing...

and he's stilling going to walk away from this with millions of dollars...

so what if he cries? ill trade my position for his any day
