Hasn't Yao always said that Rudy is like a father to the team and how the rest of the team needs Rudy?

Rudy has been a great ambassador and players love playing for him. I think that Rudy is a major reason why the Rockets were able to get Yao from China.

You never know, but this could have an impact on Yao wanting to extend his contract.

;) LOL, you maybe right. You don't know how adaptable Yao really is. He got the kind of mental ability and personality to fit in anywhere.

First off I'd like to say, God bless Rudy Tomjanovich. I hope he recovers and lives a long life in good health. He gave mny years to this franchise in many capacities and will continue to do so. My belief is that his resignation had more to do with his health and the stress level, than his shortcomings on the court. I am a huge fan of Rudy T. and will really miss seeing him courtside.

With that said I believe that the best coach for the job would be Larry Brown. Brown is that type of coach gets players to believe in his system and play the game the way it was meant to be played. Brown has the respect and knowledge to turn around the Rockets' poor intangibles on the court. Brown would be great, I believe that Van Gundy is as overrated as LeBron James. Mike Dunleavy is probably the dark-horse, and Doc Rivers is the longshot at best.

I think we all knew this day would come, but I really didn't think it would happen this soon. The offseason is starting to roll along, and I truly believe that this is just the beginning of the many moves to come.

Once again, Rudy, thank you for all your loyalty, hardwork, blood, sweat and tears. You are truly the epitome of the team player. Thank you, you will be missed, God bless.

You are stupid. You should stop posting and go play with your Playstation.

Why is this is stupid question? Rudy T. was the ambassador who helped to bring Yao over to Houston. Maybe Yao feels some sort of loyalty to Rudy T. You never know what can happen in the future....

I expected one more year of ISO ball before this happened. I didn't see Rudy correcting the problems the Rockets have but I also didn't see Les doing anything about it this year.

I believed what Rudy said today. It may not have been 100% his choice but he may have been given an ultimatum that just encouraged him to go take this step back. He won't be the GM which I feel is for the best but he'll be involved which will stabalize things for the kids who truly love him and wouldn't cooperate with the new staff without him.

The fact that JVG, Silas and Dunleavy are out there may have had something to do with this too since there is no telling who would be available in the future.
