He only carries the burden of spoiled California Asian people who live in Palo Alto.

Yao Ming and Manny Pacquio and Glen from walking dead carry the burden of regular Asian people

Jeremy Lin is the second coming of Jesus.

No one should say anythign even remotely negative or neutral about him even if it is the truth. Only praise and adoration of Jeremy is allowed.

Jesus would have passed the ball on three on one fast break instead of selfishly taking it and missing a freaking layup .

I hate that people can't tell the difference between Asian and Asian American and just lump them together

Hope you are being sarcastic buddy. That's like saying Usain Bolt, Wilson Kipsang, and Michonne from walking dead carry the burden of regular African Americans.

Btw, there is a difference between Asian Americans and Asians. Just FYI.

Well, Yao Ming doesn't carry any burden now because he is retired. But when he played, as a Chinese person, I don't think he even comprehended race relations in the United States nor did he even think he was represented Asian Americans. Same for Manny Pacquiao.

But Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn on Walking Dead, grew up in Michigan and is probably well aware of perceptions of Asian American men, probably because there are hardly any normal Asian American men on TV.

The fact that there are tons of Asian Americans in the crowd wherever Lin plays demonstrates that he is not just representing Asian Americans from Palo Alto. Hell, half the crowd in Toronto seemed to be rooting for him when he hit his game winner on the Knicks.

For me, it's simple. I'm a Rockets fan, and since Lin is a Rocket, I support him. Period. When him and Asik are traded for Melo, then I'm gonna support Melo (even though I'm not a Melo fan!).

The hard and blatant fouls that Lin takes with no call game in and game out says something about the NBA..

    Stop segregating Asia people.

Yao Ming has lived in Houston longer than Lin, he's a true Houstonian.

Manny sings American songs from 70s and 80s

Glenn got the hot girl on the show

Jeremy Lin isn't any more American than anyone of them

Yao doesn't represent me. Dudes straight up from Asia.

Manny is Filipino. I consider that more Pacific Islander, not Asian. You seem über obsessed with manny these days since the screening. You're like ten years too late with manny.

You... Are Jeremy Lin. Spoiled. Deal with it.

And weren't you all pissed off about bringing down the house/21 Asian/white people controversy guy.

There's a difference between Jeremy Lin fans who try to turn everything into a race issue when their hero has a crap game

Vs true rockets fans like red who call them out on their ignorance and insecurity

Jeremy Lin is stereotyped. But I don't think he's stereotyped because of his race.

He is stereotyped because he looks slow, he doesn't look very intelligent, no matter what college he went to, and he doesn't look like he has the best coordination. (most of this is relative to other good professional players, not relative to the general public. of course he looks more athletic than the average non-athlete.)

Yao was similarly judged. Yao didn't look like he would be too good. He simply looked clumsy.

An opposite case is Yi. Yi looks athletic, and looks like he has good coordination and looks like a smart and crafty player as well.

Similar cases where someone was "discriminated" against are: Ben Wallace, Brad Miller, John Starks. All undrafted for various reasons.

We live in a world where we understand that if all boys in India start playing basketball every single day, in twenty years, there are going to be a lot of Indians in the NBA. 50% of the NBA could be Indian some day. That's a real possibility. And the good-looking, athletic-looking Indian kid will have had a higher chance of making it than the clumsy-looking, lazy-eyed Indian kid with one arm longer than the other who will nevertheless go on to average 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Spurs in the year 2036.

No I wasn't pissed about the 21 movie, I was the one at the premiere who said the Asian guy was there in the movie cameo as the dealer.

    Welcome back to the garm

On topic. Lin is no Jackie Robinson. Come on people.

There is no Asian Basketball association. If there was, the goals would be 8 foot tall, and I could compete in the slam dunk competition.

Pacquiao reps the Philippines, Yao reps China,

Lin and Yuen rep the US, any Asian American who blows up, it's a big deal to Asian Americans because the history of role models is basically Bruce Lee, 30 years of nothing, then guys like Lin and Yuen

lumping all of them together with guys that grew up on the other side of the world is bull****
