Guilty as charged.. I played D&D for years growing up.. I think I had a (female) Barbarian that became really powerful and I decided to have her marry Loki (Norse God of Speed and Mischeviousness).. I'm not sure if that was really something I could do but my bro and I didn't care.. I've also played some Magic but have never found enough people to make it interesting. Despite the nerdiness of D&D, I really learned a lot about other mythologies and their pantheons of gods, etc..
Ugh, MUDs. Those things were the bane of my college life. I was a good student until a couple seniors introduced me to one called Moral Decay my fresh. year in Va. We used to play whole reboot (8 hours) and rampage around the server. It was ugly. Then I started playing Realms of the Dragon and our group (about 6 of the football guys) were pretty much done spare time wise on week nights. I can just imagine what the computer lab guys were thinking seeing the same guys in there all night, every night.
My bestman at my wedding gets together with his mates most Sundays to do this sort of stuff, makes visiting internet buddies look normal
I used to play all the time, and I've played a little bit not too long ago after a fifteen year hiatus. I would play again now if I knew a good DM with a good group. The old group I used to play with in jr. high are talking about trying to play together again using Neverwinter Nights. I may be a geek, but I don't care, that stuff is fun.
Never did the D&D thingy. Geekiest thing we did (and I would still LOVE to do) is play Axis & Allies. Everytime we started this game, we couldn't stop unless we had to, usually around 5-6 in the MORNING! Nobody ever truly won, but it was obvious who was winning whenever we had to quit. We'd try to keep the game in "pause" mode, but after a couple of weeks, you kinda know its time to put it up. IMO...Best Game Ever!
I wonder how strong the correlation would be if someone were to plot Plays D&D, Likes Star Wars, and Listens To Rush on a three dimensional graph? Hmmm....
I played a bit for a while round twenty-five years ago, mostly with a friend who a few years back was shot and killed by a gay ex-lover/stalker in broad daylight in the parking lot of Starbucks on Montrose, on my birthday. D&D will always remind me of him.
I play every single weekend. Fridays from 7pm to 2am and Saturdays from noon to 2am. At 17, I am the youngest in the group, with the other ages being 44, 33, 31, 25, 24, 21, 20. I am a dork and proud of it! By the way, if you game, go to cards comics and games right by CiCi's on memorial and if it's within the hours I'm there ask for Preston. Would love to meet some CC'ers
I think I speak for most Rush fans when I say your way off base there mister. I don't know any Rush fans playing D&D. I will ask around, however.
I was in an all boys private boarding school from grades 8-10, and it was the perfect environment for games like D&D, as we weren't allowed televisions, radios, video games, etc. I wasn't one of the school's regular players, but I did play in a couple of scenarios. It was pretty cool, but I'm not sure how into it I would have been had I been able to do what 'normal' kids were doing at the time...ie, girls. We should get a nostalgic on-line CCNet D&D game going.
me too, but somehow the dork gods missed me. I played a few different roll playing games and i was very "cool" and popular. I was even prom king. It must have been that I played a several sports too that saved me. or it was that it never took it seriously, but just played in winter when there was really nothing to do
I was never into this stuff and I dont think I ever will be. I had a single friend who played Magic and stuff but besides that, I stayed as far away from these people as possible. No offense, but half those kids would play for like a week straight and not shower.....
So I've heard some people say that they painted figures and drew pics. I think we need some pics posted of those.
I have personally never played D&D. But to the point of my post. I think that people that listen to Rush are much more dorky then if they play D&D.
Ryu is a cheesebag. Anyone can get good with him. Real street fighters use characters like Chun Li, Zangief or Blanka. I'm an E.Honda man, myself. Just as long as I'm not the dungeon master. I hate being DM.
