    The Nuggets did it 2 nights prior to their beating the Rockets. How did they do it?

    * Shooting? NO > edge Spurs 43.6% to 39.8%.
    * 3PT accuracy? NO > edge Spurs 43.8% to 42.1%.
    * Rebounding? NO > edge Spurs 56 to 51.
    * Interior defense? NO > Duncan & Robinson had more blocks than McD and Raef.
    * Stopping the Spurs big men? NO > Duncan and Robinson exceeded their combined season averages by 8 points (in 71 minutes).
    * Starting out red hot and holding the Spurs off? NO > The Spus led by 4 at the half
    * Assists? NO > we're getting warmer though - 22 for each team
    * Free throws? Maybe - each team took 31. the Nuggets made 7 more.

    * Turnovers? YOU GOT IT, Baby! 11 total (NVE 2, Lenard 2, Pack 1). And they made them count. 22 to 9 in points off TO's.

    * Moral to the story? Hold on to the ball, move the ball around, take good shots, be aggressive, and get out and run. Say, hasn't that been the story in most of the Rockets wins this year? Hmmmmmm......I see a pattern here.

    I think we can....I think we can

    Seriously they're beatable if

    Mo can get his shots over Duncan

    Steve,Shandon and Cat attack their big men and try to get them in early foul trouble

    Push Duncan and Robinson away from the basket

    And last but not least Rudy at no time attempts to have Bull guard Duncan

    Good crisp ball movement is going to be very important if the Rockets have any hopes of beating the Spurs. When your offense starts to stagnate, the Spurs will completely eat you up. Duncan and Robinson are so quick and cover up any deficiencies in the defense. The key will be for the Rockets to be smooth and crisp with their ball movement to keep the Spurs defense off balance.

    A major part of it I feel will be the lineup combinations. If Rudy goes with Thomas-Bullard-Williams against the Spurs frontline, this game will get very very ugly. He needs to find a happy medium between defense and offense and that lineup is not it. Avery Johnson has a history of torching the Rockets on the screen and roll, and Duncan vs Bullard isnt even a contest.

    beating the spurs comes down to a few things:

    1) TEMPO

    the spurs, especially in the duncan era, have had a seriously tough time playing against good guard oriented teams who can control the tempo of the game. what kind of tempo? a running, up-and-down the court tempo. their not extremely athletic, with a front court of tim, dave, and sean. avery, if he plays against the rox, isn't exactly a defensive weapon. and anderson (derek) has largely underachieved on "d" and "o" this season. this key can only be achieved if you can...

    2. DEFENSIVE REBOUNDS

    the spurs massacre teams with their offensive rebounding. i'm not sure of their positioning in the league standings, but i know for a fact that tim and dave don't burn down the house with their shooting. however, the 2nd and 3rd shots...that's the killer. lastly

    3. TURNOVERS

    if the rox can do like denver and stay low on the turnovers, they have that many more opportunities to attack the basket and get tim and dave in foul trouble.

    ALL-IN-ALL:

    to keep this post short, hold on to the damn ball! attack tim and dave! go to mo tay against tim! don't let malik rose get off (seriously, he's a bigger mario elie - CLUTCH!)!!! run! run! run!

    NO DRY SPELLS AND WE WIN!!!!!!!

    ------------------
    Mobley and Francis ...are not the two best players on the team.

    Pretty sure that AJ isn't even playing - which means that Antonio Daniels gets the start. Here's hoping that Steve takes advantage of Daniels and gets into the lanes to get the big guys into fould trouble.

    I think the Rockets may struggle on the rebounding side of things - I'm VERY concerned about Duncan getting 20 boards - maybe Hakeem and Mo should swap assignments?

    I predict the Bull blocks Duncan 5 times, including the final shot of the game, giving the win to the ROX! [IMG]
