    My prediction all along was:
    - Western Conference Finals this year
    - Losing in the Finals next year or winning
    - Winning the Finals the following year

So... At least 1 in the next 3 years.

I don't know that this Rockets nucleus is ever going to win a title.

Having said that, they will be in a far better position next year and in 2016. The Rockets bench will be deeper and they will probably have added another all star caliber player.

All we can hope for is to be in the conversation as long as possible, we do that and we may win a title.

this season, next season, season after next

realistically, we aren't that close yet, but with the right moves this off-season, the next and the one after that can really get us there

When we get some "Love" in Houston.

But I could see us winning two ships in the next 5 years

Depends on player development. We need e a third star to step up if we want to be the best team in the NBA and not just good. Terrence Jones becoming an all-star or something would do the trick. It really depends on Morey though. If he thinks somebody on the current roster can become an all-star then he will probably add some pretty good role player(s) this off-season.

I personally think Morey Iis gonna continue to get cheap role players with short contracts and hoard space for arguably the 3rd best player in the NBA, Kevin Love.

This summer is vital. We cannot wait and pick up more band aids.

as early as this year if a miracle like linsanity happens... except it'd have to be a houston version... which I have a hard time seeing.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/playoffodds

The "Hollinger Playoff Odds" simulations have the Rockets at a 9% chance of winning the title. I think it looks about right for this team, maybe a bit less due to health concerns with Beverley in particular (but then other teams have their own health-luck issues).

Right now, things are a bit muddled in the contention picture. The Clippers are hot but some of the other better teams have had their own problems, including the defending champion. It'll probably come down to health of important players during the playoffs and how the brackets shape up in terms of who matches up with whom.

Why not here? Why not us? Why not now?

First day of playoffs every team's record is 0-0. Get hot, stay hot, win it all.

I think we could beat all the other teams in the west in a playoff series this year except OKC. But when we dump Lin and Asik and get another All Star we'll win it all. Hopefully that's next season.

Lamarcus Aldridge is an overrated, inefficient, midrange shot chucking non-defending PF who thrives off of the rebounding abilities(boxing out) of his center and not his own.

Putting him and Love in the same sentence is........Disrespectful to Love.

If we get pbev back or lin steps it up we can Win now. For get rehearsal we're in win now mode. For the next five years it's championship or bust. Meaning every year we don't win from here on out it's a failure. Just like Miami, Spurs, Clippers,Warriors, and OKC.
No time for waiting if you got the pieces. .
This maybe next year we're ready sounds like the Tmac and Yao Era. Oh we're not ready oh we need one more one more piece. We know how that ended. Health and etc. Are not guaranteed.
We have the talent, if they step It up then we should be in the WCF at least. But I feel we have the talent to win it all. Especially on paper, but that's why they play the games.

Most likely the year after next year before they have a serious shot at it.

The Rockets are probably still going to acquire another major piece if they can, and then you have the adjustment period it takes to integrate them into the roster and optimize their play.

I expect the team to continue to improve next year, however it just takes time to build these things.

That's not to say that they *can't* win this year or next, it's just really not very likely. Houston is NOT the most talented team in the NBA right now by any stretch of the imagination, and they are at least 2 years away from the level of familiarity and chemistry it requires to execute in the half court at the highest levels.

The way I figure it is this.

It will take at least 2 years to find, add and integrate another major talent.
It will take at least 3 years to achieve the level of continuity and execution that you would have on a team like the Spurs, assuming this team CAN even get CLOSE to their level.

So, think year after next is when the real championship window is fully open. Then however many years after that the players remain healthy.

For this year, just enjoy the ride and watch the growth and progression. Look forward to the off season and hope we get the right player. Then kick back and see how it pans out.

And if it doesn't, it wasn't due to the lack of a good plan... the best laid plans of mice and men and all.

The year after poison contracts. I don't see Asik contributing with that much heart and Lin doesn't seem to have his head in the right place. Even if they were traded as expirings mid season next year, It's unlikely that the people who come on board can contribute right off the bat.

Hence, the year after Lin and Asik expire.
