how will lebron really handle the transition from high school ball to the nba? is he really good enough to make a HUGE impact his rookie season, or is the transition from high school to the nba too big?
Well, I am sure hell play the 3 for the Cavs. His outside shot is still very suspect to me (bad form). He also won't be able to get away with cheating on D like he has in high school. Overall, I would say 14-16 pts, 7-8 rebs and around 5-6 assists. Hell get more than 1 triple double. Good rookie year. Hell also probably be voted in as a starter in the All Star Game.
IMO, a large part of how well LeBron plays in his rookie year will be majorly impacted by who the Cavs hire as a coach and what they do personnel wise. I'll be conservative - 14 ppg, 6 rebs, 4 assists, 1.5 steals.
I'll say about 10 ppg, 5 rpg and 2 apg...on 42% shooting. He'll struggle a bit, but still show the flashes that made everyone want him in the first place.
He will easily get around 15ppg. Because he will immediatly be the go-to guy for Cleveland. He will get a lot of shots and opportunities. A little less than 20 shots per game I bet. And I can't see him shoot belov 40%. And with his driving capabilities he will get too the free throw line a lot. He will also be active at the fast breaks for some easy points. He is very athlethic and plays great D (in HS that is, hard to say how he will defend in the NBA) But I bet he will average a bit over 5rpg and 1.5 spg. One thing we know for sure is that he's a great passer and will have the ball a lot. So I think he will average a bit over 4 apg. 15+ ppg 5+ rpg 1.5+ spg 4+ apg He will probably be an all-star starter in his first year. Because of all the hype around him. And because I don't think he will disappoint. He will be solid from the start.
If LeBron could get those numbers, why should he be the go to guy when last season Ricky Davis had: 20.6 ppg 4.9 rpg 1.58 spg 5.5 apg
It will all depend on who they get as a coach, but it will also depend on if LeBron can keep himself focused and stay out of trouble. If the money goes to his head, and he starts hanging out with the wrong crowd, he will be a bust, and he will be out of the NBA within 5 years.
I'm going to say: 16 pts, 7 rebs, 6 assts at PG\point F. His shot needs a LOT of work, but he could probably run the offense. And he'll get to the line a lot, he seems to be a decent FT shooter from the few times I've seen him. I'm happy for the Cavs, but not for LeBron. I really wanted to see him get out of Ohio & away from all the "hanger-ons" that surround him. Oh well, I wish him the best & hope that he doesn't get smothered by his "people."
Because Lebron is the future of Cleveland and Ricky Davis isn't. Hell, Lebron is the future of the NBA. That's why! And I also think that Ricky Davis will be traded.....
Don't forget Dajuan Wagner. Last year they thought he was going to be the savior too. But we all know what happened.
I think he'll be a bust personally. Like 50 Cent said: "Damn homie...in high school you was the man homie, what the f*ck happened to you?"
Don't forget how much Ricky Davis and Wagner score. Especially Wagner, he should blow up next year. I think you all are forgetting Lebron's best asset -- his passing. I'd say 12 ppg, 5 reb, 7 assists.
In steve's rookie season it was documented that only 4 or 5 other people in the history of the NBA have averaged 15/5/5 their first year. You're saying Lebron is going to do that coming straight out of high school? I don't know. It's strange, in an interview with him and C.Anthony, Lebron said that the only difference and adjustment he'll have to make between HS and NBA is that its 82 games instead of 27. 'Thats the only thing that will give me trouble'...he said something like that. He didn't say he'd have to work on his shot, defense, strength, quickness, etc. He seems a 'little' over-confident to me. I hope he truly doesn't feel that way because he'll be in for a really rude awakening. I see him as 16/5/3. Around 40% FG, 65% FT, 3.5-4 TO a game.
Wow...I think most of you guys are expecting way too much. If he can score 10 a night I'd consider it a great success. Kobe, KG, TMac all averaged 6-7 ppg their rookie years.
I think LeBron is going to be a truly special player, but he's gonna struggle next year. He's 18, on a dreadfully bad (and selfish) team, and EVERYBODY will be gunning for him. That said, I still I expect 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, which are amazing numbers for such a young player.
He'll get a lot of playing time on such a horrible team, fans will pressure the organization to play him AMAP. If they don't, they'll look pretty silly not playing this 'great' number 1 pick when he's suppose to be the most NBA ready. Besides, you think the organization cares about wins and loses at this point? They're the worst team in the league, would you rather win 5 more games this year or help accelerate the development of the 'future MJ'?
Concerning LeBron James, you have to think the HAPPIEST Cavs player right now is Darius Miles. Miles is a super athletic player but cant create his own shot. You have to think James will impact Miles' game dramatically perhaps the same way that Kidd adds to K-mart's and RJ's game. Not only that Miles will want to stay in Cleveland when his contract is up, before he was as good as gone. I see the Cavs 1-2-3 lineup being James, Wagner and Miles. I have a hunch that Ricky Davis will be traded.
The big difference is that Lebron will get alot of minutes right away. He will be the go to guy right away. KG, KB and T-mac wasn't from the start. That's the difference. So he will have no problems with scoring 15+ ppg.
