"Potential" and "Production" are not mutually exclusive.

Just because you have potential doesn't mean you have a free pass to not produce on a consistent basis.

This is all fine and dandy

But Bev will start in the playoffs.

Lin probably could start for at least 3 or 4 teams.

Well, it depends on your definition of production. Canaan shot the ball better, yes. But that was it. Do you equate good point guard play with simply making 3s? Canaan had 2 assist and 4 TOs in the game and had a +/- of -7. Therefore, in my opinion Canaan did not outplay Lin. It's not that simple. To top it off, it was ONE game. I really doubt Lin will continue shooting 1-9 every game from now until the playoffs.

    I absolutely agree.

I'm not so sure we're set at the PF spot. Speaking of inconsistency, TJones has disappeared in games before. Specifically, all 4 against the Clippers.

How I hope you're right. Just so long as he isn't endangering his career, that would be sensational.

Lin has been good for the majority of his time in Hou. But I was referring to Canaan only having one game under his belt, there's no way he has proved that he should start over Lin.

The perfect situation would be for Lin to play well as the starter till Bev comes back so that his trade value goes up. I like Lin and think he can be a great 6th man, but if Canaan can fill the role of Lin, we could trade Lin and have Canaan at a much cheaper price.

This is best case scenario. However, for Bev's sake and future, I hope he doesn't prematurely come back to try and save the day. Got to be careful with the knees.

The fanatical LOFs are few and far between on CF. Greater than >95% of posters are rockets fans. Some of you are so concerned with confronting "them" with the facts and creating drama that its polluting intelligent discussion and creating negativity on the boards. Perhaps you should spend time posting these rants on facebook, twitter, or the jlin site.

At least the LOFs on CF such as khyberjones will acknowledge his shortcomings and have some positivity for the rockets in the playoffs.

I'm coming to Houston for a month to sit with Naismith, Kam and Dave2000 and Reeko, until we get knocked out.

    Bev will start.

You need to join us for Game 1 or 2. Rockets2K is going to come.

    1) Jones isn't payed nearly as much as Lin. Expectations should be adjusted accordingly.

    2) Jones is much more consistent from game to game than Lin is.

    3) Nobody is saying Lin is the only reason the Rockets lost, but he was a very large reason, and between Bev being out and Lin's contract, you'd like to see him step up and perform at least somewhat decently, rather than look completely incompetent.

Morey has faith in Canaan obviously. He will get exactly how many minutes he deserves.

What a pathetic post, Lin is a grown man. This is a grown mans league. He doesn't belong if this takes away what little pride he has left. He should look no other place than the mirror, man up and play with ultimate confidence. That's what being a PROFESSIONAL athlete is all about.
    What a joke.

It was only one game, but it totally was Canaan outplaying Lin. Neither one played exceptional defense, assists and turnovers were both nearly the same, +/- was nearly the same, and Canaan was incredibly efficient and productive shooting.

I do agree that I doubt Lin shoots this bad consistently and it is only one game so It is not very statistically valid to draw an opinion one way or the other for future production.

Yes, we have seen enough of Lin by now. But we have not seen enough of Canaan to say that he should start.

Remember Jordan Hamilton in his first two games as a Rocket? We all thought Morey was a genius getting him. Now he's at the end of the bench. Pointing out Lin's problem is not knee jerk. Crowning Canaan as the starter is.

Oh please. Ab was not a better option. He had a few good games then fell off pretty hard and couldn't finish a layup.

Bev has had too many horrendous games offensively to count and he is the starter.

Lin has had his share of bad games but he has also shown offensive ability if he gets minutes or shots. Defensively he is better than he gets credit for.

I am not a lof. I just call it like it is.

You're not calling it like it is. Lin can't play the PG position...at all.

Canaan at this point, is only good for a few 3's a game. Dude hasn't shown any semblance of a playmaker or a player who can run the offense consistently without turning the ball over. Not to mention dude is extremely green and has absolutely no playoff experience under his belt. Like it or not, Lin is your starting PG unless Bev pulls a Willis Reed for the playoffs.
