Sorry but he is RIGHT I havent commented on what Steve Francis said till now. I hope its all true. It looked like Steve said all the right things at the right time! It all going to depend on their chemistry and respect as to the final picture!

That kind of sucks that Steve Francis said he would start with Shaq. I mean if Im Steve I say Yao. I say it with a grin if I have to. But I dont choose Shaq over MY TEAMMATE because Im bias toward my guy, I dont choose Shaq because Yao's my main man, my partner, my hombre, my bro, my homey, my dog. you guys dig what Im saying?

people are different and we dont react the same way which is cool but I cant see Yao on the hot seat being asked the same question and choosing Kidd over Francis. It would of been cool to see Francis choose his teammate instead because thats his friend, his dog, you know. If he was asked to choose out of Mobley and Kobe, Francis would of chose Mobley because he's biased toward his bro, it would of been cool to see him do the same for Yao.

Thoes that have observed closely, with a bias towards Yao Ming dont think that the bond you described actually exists. I think there is much more bonding of Yao Ming to Steve Francis than Francis to Yao Ming! If I was Steve I would have saved face by altering the question and said...
I dont know about now but in a few years when I am at the top of my game, my choice would definitely be Yao Ming.

if you were steve, steve would be a talentless loudmouth critic.
he was being honest, I don't think yao would want any less. besides, you haven't even heard what he said word for word yet.

Very true. I am disappointed. Yes it's not a big deal, but it could be MUCH better (and convincing about the chemistry between the two) if SF chose Yao.

There are quite a few Yao interviews since he returned to China, everytime he mentioned his teammates and SF, and he praised, appreciated and looks sincerely missing them.

I saw what he just said, he simply said based on what shaq has done, and if he had to choose right now, he would choose shaq. I think that was a bit blown out of proportion.

Every player in the nba would pick Shaq, Bcause he is the only one player that is so dominant. The ? seems to refur to now not in the future. Every person on this board would make the same choice if they were being honest. Now if they asked about the next 5-10 years his response would be diff.

Francis does have a repect for Yao. He seems to like him fine. I could tell that he Kenny didn't get along. Francis realizes he is still the best player on this team and the addition to Yoa makes him better. Some posters need to wake up and admit Yao is good but is not better than SF yet. They will make a great combo and have good personalities, lets be greatful.

That's odd. They must have missed Steve, a franchise all-star player going out of his way to give Yao, the rookie a ride, help fill him in on the pressures and demands that Yao was about to face. They must have missed Steve sending the signal to his teammates and welcoming Yao by going and stretching next to him at practice the first day Yao was there, and continuing to do so after that. They must have ignored Steve's 10,000 clam donation to Yao's telethon.

Yao is a special player, and it's obvious that he respects Steve as a leader, and there is no problem between the two.

If they don't have a problem with one another why do others try and lay the blame on Steve for a non-existent rift?

It's like some people want there to be a rift.

I'm glad Steve is saying the right things. But honestly, if he could play in Washington....if he were traded there....not that he's going to be traded, but hypothetically....he might throw us a poison pill or two about lack of loyalty, but he'd ultimately be thrilled.

Steve on a team in the East would mean playoffs for him, and real fan support.

Still, let's find a way to build around him and Yao.

They asked him Carmelo or Lebron. Odd question.

btw, looks like he's lost some weight.

if there is ever a time to lie that was one of them. never go against your teammate. you just dont do it. Shaqs great, but Yao's my boy - you say as much if you have to. Yao would of done the same for Steve if he was asked to choose between Jason and Steve. really its no big deal, just something silly to talke about but it would of been cool to see Steve have a more biased attitude toward his boy when faced with that question.

Why do people assume he would be happy about going to Washington? If he wanted to go to Washington he could have waited out his contract and signed there. As for real fan support, Washington's fan support was horrible before Jordan came along. Without Jordan their fan support was brutally bad.

did anyone actually watch SF on the hot seat?

    It was embarassing.

    (a) Steve is completely r****ded
    (b) Steve has absolutely zero style - what the hell were those sunglasses?
    (c) Steve's comments about Yao were both classless and telling. He said Yao was "going to be a good player in a couple of years" or something to that effect, with as little emotion as you can imagine.

Completely depressing. I'm ready to clean house.
