Let me ask you guys a personal question.

Who here is a Star Wars Fan?

    Translation

Who here is a Star Wars Dork.

I never could get into the movies. Everytime it was on TV, I would pass it up. I never got the attraction to it. Everytime a movie comes out, I could care less about it.

I guess there is nothing wrong with the star wars thing....

I mean, there is nothing wrong with Camping out for four months waiting for the newest StarWars Trailer. There is nothing wrong with dressing up in Star Wars gear in your 30s.

I remember in high school, the senior class would have a dress up day, with a theme to it. Sometimes, it would be 70s, (which was always stupid), farmer days, funny hair, and other crap like this, but this one guy, He would always dress up in a white robe with a rope around his waist, and he was a Star Wars character.

Yeah, okay, this post has gone long enough.

    Wookie Wookie Wookie,

    Yoda.

Kam, guess you had to really be a part of the original trilogy. I was there back in 1977 at 7 years old and went to view the very first one filmed and there was no lines whatsoever. It obviously hadn't taken off then. But, I was in shock and awe at what I was seeing in 1977 as far as effects and sci-fi go.

The newest trilogy, however, couldn't be more disappointing to me. I still watch it but it is bad. It almost makes me wish there wasn't an Episode I - III. I would have been content using my imagination prior to Episode IV. But, Lucas had to go and ruin a good thing.

Star Wars went from cool to uncool in my opinion.

Kam... you're like 19... those of us that around 30 remember when Star Wars was first released way back in 1977. If you're not a fan, you'll probably never be one and that's OK.

The attraction for me is sci-fi, a good story and 5 movies! Granted the original trilogy was way better than the 2 recent movies. Star Wars set precedents for attendance and special effects when it was released. Folks enjoyed the simple story of good vs evil, as the movies progressed they became more about attracting a younger audience and product tie-ins, toys, etc...

Some of us grew up with Star Wars, the toys and discussing the movies with friends at school, etc. We were fans, from the looks of your profile, you are into playing sports. To each their own.

Star Wars was visionary movie making, just like Lord of the Rings and the Matrix. Believe me, I had to force myself to see the first LOTR. It had been out for about a month, and I had seen every other movie out at the time, including the completely suck a$$ Vanila Sky. Anyway I finally gave in and said to myself I'll go see what the grown up kids are all excited about. I was shocked how much I enjoyed the film. I was into all the effects, and I am disappointed that I still haven't seen part II and won't get to see it on big screen. When a fantasy or Sci fi movie is done right with decent acting and great visual effects, its hard to beat that kind of cinematic experience.

I was 8 when Star Wars came out and as Surfguy put it, I was also in shock and awe when I saw it in the theater for the first time.

I'll also admit to having my share of light saber fights but not on tape and not when I was in 10th grade.

I also think that the prequels are pretty bad but since I am a fan, I still have to see them.

I was 7 in '77 as well. I'm a die-hard fan, but I don't do dress up...except on Halloween a few yars back...I was the baddest ass character in episode 1...and no, I was not Jar Jar.

I was Darth Maul, and I even bought those awesome contact lenses. People were tripping when they saw me. I had the full head mask, painted around the eyes black, the hood, the double edged lightsaber, and at 6'1, 215lbs, I posed a threatening sith lord.

Star Wars is still cool, but the newness of it has worn off. The younger gen was not astounded by the special effects of the time in episode 4, so they never got hooked. Us older timers usually are the ones that take our kids to see it, but they are like, "Eh, let's throw the old man a bone and go see it with him." Times change my friends. I for one, still like Star Wars because it brings back those feelings of childhood and adventure.

I must be the only one who thinks the new movies are as good as or better than some of the old ones. I would probably rank them:

    1. Empire
    2. AotC
    3. ANH
    4. Menace
    5. Jedi

Nothing in the prequels, not even Jake Lloyd's crapulence alongside Jar-Jar, could be worse than the Stormtroopers getting the beat down from a bunce of tickle me Elmos. What Lucas needs to do for number three is just come up with the main plot points he wants to hit, then let someone else write and direct the thing. Joss Whedon or Kasden and Kirshner maybe?

If you'll really interested in Star Wars, you guys should check out the new MMORPG coming out sometime this summer called "Stars Galaxies, An Empire Diveded".

btw, I think something happened to those links, I had to download it myself on Kazaa. The remix is damn funny :p .

i'm with you on empire...but i thought the whole luke confronting vader and the emperor and himself saved Jedi. I liked Attack of the Clones, too...though I must say, the more I watch it the less I like it.
