i don't see how its gonna be any different really. He's playing around like 20+ mins a game. So what makes an extra 10 or so minutes so big of a deal? Its not like he's gonna suddenly become the ball handler. He's still gonna be the SG. This poll is really only relevant if harden goes down and Lin essentially has to handle the ball which probably which not result in a heroic victory...
thank you for providing this. Clutch City had so many heroes, I can't believe anyone would ever question their championships or hearts.
^also forgot to mention Chucky Brown. He played valuable minutes at the 4 throughout the '95 postseason.
you're missing my point too. People remember heroes vividly. Kids were blowing kisses of death to each other after Mario Elie's 3. It is a team game, but you need heroes. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/zGp3gfutNRM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
i understand that point as well, but why create a thread asking specifically if lin will be when we gotta a bunch of lin threads and a buncha players who could be heroes. why not just a who will be a hero thread instead of singling out lin? it's because if lin isn't a hero on this board, he's the scapegoat. or that's how it feels with threads like this. even that would be dumb, cuz we have no idea how any of these guys will perform in the playoffs. it's tjones first playoffs, dmo's, etc. we just don't know. hopefully they all will have their big moments in the playoffs.
why pick lin? the hype the popularity the upcoming playoffs the expectations I wouldn't start a Lin thread if i didn't feel the timing was right
Lin sucks. Always has and always will. He B**ched out last playoffs and the one before that. He is a walking pile of excuses. Sam Cassell is a legend and the way he stepped up was Legendary. He didn't make excuses, he played ball and proved why he deserved to wear a Rockets uniform starting his rookie year. Lin does not deserve to be in the same category. He'll find another excuse this year again like he forgot his Monistat at home and hopefully everyone else will pick up his slack.
Can only hope that Lin steps up big time along with the rest of the team. Lin already proved that he can be very good but also very bad at times. He just gotta get his confidence right, mentally stronger and stay consistent when it's playoffs time.
luckily we dont play okc the first round this time. playing portland or gs will be good for lin in the 1st round
Like it or not, both the Rockets' success/failure and Jeremy Lin's future will likely be determined by his performance from now to the end of this season..... He now should have nothing to worry about in regard to getting benched or losing minutes..... As long as he doesn't get hurt. And because of that, Lin should now be able to play to his strengths..... If he can start creating off his midrange game (the core of "Linsanity"), and play more aggressively off the ball defensively (his steal numbers should return), he could really surprise some of the skeptics here..... Not to mention making the Rockets' half-court offense something to fear, aside from James Harden doing his thing. But if Lin continues to stand around the perimeter as a spot shooter, force layups without taking floaters, freeze in the lane instead of keeping the dribble or shooting those baby and fadeaway jumpers, play timid to avoid turnovers, and defensively stand in no man's land between the ballhandler and his man (his worst developmental habit since joining the Rox), Lin will have turned out to be the flash-in-the-pan that many of his detractors proclaimed him to be.
this is the second coming of linsanity - but in a different way. it's a different kind of pressure that lin faces now. wonder if he can handle it. hoping he can. as for saying the team needing more D and not enough O, I think last year the Rockets also had difficulty scoring too because the defense was pretty tough. Only harden seemed to help get that going, since he would be double teamed so other opportunities opened. Lin needs to be a scoring threat as well to open up the floor. Defense does not rest on 1 person alone, the whole team has to be in sync.
Some players are just better players in the playoffs. Robert Horry, Derek Fisher, etc I'm just hoping for the best because this a good team with strong chemistry and really no divas (Dwight has been all class with the Rockets )
At the very least, this playoffs will finally show Lin's defensive ability. He will be playing against a top level PG in any series: Lillard, Curry, CP3, Westbrook, Parker, or Conley. Those Lin fans who say he's just as good as Beverley on D, well here's his chance to prove it on the biggest stage. I truly hope that Linsanity can make even just a mini-return in the playoffs. I don't expect it. But at this point what else can you do but hope Lin becoming a beast. If he can't do it this postseason, I'm ready to bury the Lin era in Houston. If he plays well and the Rockets go deep, I will forever never speak ill of Lin's game ever again.
