What a huge blow if Bev is to miss the playoffs!

Bev offers everything that Lin can't - defense, hustle, clutch plays, getting IMO the opponents head, vocal presence etc

Lin just can't stay with the likes of Curry, Lillard, Paul etc

I think Bev wll opt to have his meniscus removed so he can come back this year.

I don't think he really cares about 'long-term'.

He needs to be valuable to an NBA team for the next three or four years. Enough time to get a few million.

If he goes the long rehab route he might never land the contract.

This sucks horribly. Hope Bev takes the repair/rehab route if possible. Somebody needs to keep Westbrook in his place for the next decade or two.

Bev is a really good on ball defender, but c'mon. That's revisionist history.

Conley didn't struggle against him. Neither did Curry. And Lin has done as good a job on Lillard and Parker as Beverley has or did you forget the Spurs game where Bev was out and Parker was basically shut down? And CP3 lit BOTH of them up.

Now if you said Lin was struggling against Kemba Walker or Nate Robinson sure... super small guards are very tough for Lin. Fortunately, NONE of the Elite PG's we're looking at are super small guards.

    Memphis

Jan 24 (Bev starting) - Conley 14 points, 3 assists, 6/11 shooting. Loss.
Jan 25 (Bev starting) - Conley 17 points, 4 assists, 6/13 shooting. Loss

Against GSW Curry put up 20+ points on all 3 occassions on 15 or fewer shots with Beverley starting.

Beverley has his strengths, but he's about as good as anyone else at "shutting down" the elite PG's. In other words, you generally don't.

Lin said in his interview after practice that it was the same injury he had in NY. I know he missed the whole postseason, but i heard that he was probably going to comeback in the 2nd round if the Knicks made it. if the time frame is around the same.. is it reasonable to see if he can comeback around then?

Look. It's simple. Make Harden the starting PG. Make Lin the starting SG.

Canaan's total NBA experience consists of 76 mostly garbage-time minutes. *76 MINUTES*

So, yeah, it makes perfect sense to START him as we head toward the PLAYOFFS.

I swear, some of you guys must be posting from a happy hour somewhere.

WTF? This is a championship caliber team. You are such a pessimist. Making statements like that with such a tone of certainty really makes you appear foolish.

If this team doesn't have a legitimate shot at making the finals then no one does, save for the Miami Heat.

pulled rib, broken hand, broken nose, torn meniscus...

That junkyard dog role... hard to stay healthy. That's why so few do it.

Shutting down an opponent is not how you measure defense.

Why would this be bad? With the starting unit is more than enough to make up for canaan's messups as the starting unit. DH will have to play better help in case canaan's man gets by him. You think canaan will be able to run the 2nd unit that consists of hamilton/garcia/casspi/dmo/asik? o.o That's a horrendous lineup right there. Lin has more experience running the 2nd unit.

Unless Canaan learns really quick over the last games leading the bench - having Lin off the bench for playoffs isn't that bad of an idea (Lin would still get majority of the minutes)

I think it's more in reply to those that think Bev would have "stopped" the opposing pg and how they are now going to put up 40/20/15/10/5.

It's not just the defensive edge and hustle, Bev is the emotional heart of the team. And, he is a key part of the way the starting unit does what it does.

I still think the team would make a lot of noise in the playoffs. But it will be so much less fun without Bev in the thick of things.

    This is not NBA 2K.

Harden has no idea how to run an offense and get people in the right spots. He can't play PG.
