What I'm impressed at so far is that it seems her biggest problem has been putting. She's two-putted almost every hole. If she could cut that down a bit, and one-putt a few, she'll be in a great standing.
A. Way to be slow about it. I was informed that i was mistaken AND fixed the post before you even realized it was wrong. B. Watch who you are calling rookie, pal! -1 after 9 I'm really interested in seeing how she does on 3, 4 and 5, supposedly the toughest stretch of the course. B
So it should only be fair that they let Phil Mickelson or Sergio Garcia or even Tiger find out how much better they really are than females by playing in a Female tournament, right? I mean as a personal challenge.
Putting has always been the weakest part of Annika's game. She's struggled with that in the LPGA for years. It's funny that, hitting from the back tees against the men, it still comes down to her putting. I never would have predicted that. Still, I am incredibly impressed so far, not just with her play, but with her incredible composure. She's facing down a huge gallery and a virtual wall of long-lens photographers every time she hits the ball. That kind of scrutiny has rattled bigger names than her, yet she seems to be taking it in stride.
I thought the whole point of competitive sports is to determine who is the best. Is there really any question of whether Sergio Garcia can compete with other women?
I don't think there's any question about how much better those guys are than 99.9% of the female golfers out there. Annika is probably the only one currently on the LPGA tour who could even come close to their level, and they're having their chance against her right now. I think most true athletes would rather test their talents against those who are at a higher skill level, than try and prove their talents by beating those at a lower skill level.
Yeah, as a personal challenge I'd like to be the starting center for an elementary school team and see if I can lead my team to an undefeated season. B
After 10 holes: 9 - 2 putts 1 - 1 putt She could be -3 or -4 if she would have sunk those putts. Holes 3-5 may make her wish she would have made a few of those birdie attempts earlier. B
Reminds me of a joke. Two guys are talking at the end of a round... Ed: Hey Tom, I'm not gonna be able to make it out to play golf for the next couple of weeks. Tom: Why not? Ed: I'm having surgery. Tom: Surgery? It's nothing serious I hope... Ed: Well... not really. It's kind of embarassing. Tom: Come on, I've known you for 20 years. We play golf every Saturday. You can tell me. Ed: OK, Well I was born a hermaphrodite and I am having surgery to correct it. Tom: (who is a little slow) Hermaphra-what? Ed: I was born with both male and female genitalia. I have to make a choice: Sew up the female part or cut of the male part. Tom: Oh my GOD! No contest! Ed: Right so I'm gonna have them sew up the female... Tom: NO! Have them cut of your willy! Ed: What Why?! Tom: So you can play from the RED tees!
Understood Mrs.JB and much respect to the ladies too. The only reason she's out there is because of the idea and curiosity it brings and of course the coverage it'll bring the tournee not to mention the $$$Ca-ching-ching. IMHO, all the wrong reasons. If she is so awesome a player (and she IS...on the LPGA tour) and made such a difference why is the LPGA not as popular as the PGA? Answer: Cuz its womans golf. Hey I dont tell the masses which golf tour to watch its just the truth.
She just reached the front of the green on the longest par 3 of the course. I don't think she has missed a single fairway yet. If only she could putt... B
I think it`s as simple as she wants to test herself against the best in the world to see if she can compete. No more, no less
