If you read Clutch's Recap or NBA.com's recap, you may have read Dave Cowens comments on Moochie's shot: That comment is a lie. In Utah last year at pre-game shoot around, Mooch and Francis were at half court launching some shots. Francis made none of about 10. Moochie on the otherhand made 4 for about 10!! Nice comment Dave, give Moochie some credit. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online vote.cuttino-mobley.com Cuttino and Steve for 2001 All-Star Team
On behalf of Dave Cowens, I apologize for his not keeping up with individual Rockets' practice habits. ------------------
I didn't mean it like that. I just meant that Dave should have given him some credit instead of saying he's the last one for the Rockets to make that shot. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online vote.cuttino-mobley.com Cuttino and Steve for 2001 All-Star Team
I'm sure he just didn't know any better. Besides, I don't think it's a good idea for a coach to dis any opposing player for any reason (why give them any extra motivation?), but given the games Jamison and Hughes had, I can understand if Cowens was just feeling a little peevish and had to take it out on somebody. ------------------
Of the players on the court for the Rockets who have taken more than 1 3 pointer, Norris had the worst percentage. Among Francis, Mobley, Thomas and Norris, Mookie is the one I would least have expected to make that shot. ------------------
cowens is a warrior(yeah he coaches hte team too), he wont give anyone credit. He could play MJ and, with a straight face, say "lucky Shot" after each basket. But i agree, he needs to give credit where it is due because Kenny Thomas would be the last one to make it(J/K )
"Least likely to hit it", I guess Cowens also forgot about Moochies half court shot against the Kings last season. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams fan club. Web site coming soon atheistalliance.org [This message has been edited by DEANBCURTIS (edited December 15, 2000).]
If Dave said: "It was a lucky shot, he's the least likely guy to make a shot like that for them of the players on the court for the Rockets who have taken more than 1 3 pointer." That would be true, but that's not what he said. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online vote.cuttino-mobley.com Cuttino and Steve for 2001 All-Star Team
I just cut and pasted whatever Bobrek put, I didn't even notice that he/she put mookie. ------------------ Cuttino Mobley Online vote.cuttino-mobley.com Cuttino and Steve for 2001 All-Star Team
Outlaw, don't be Mr. smarty britches, you knew what Bobrek meant to say. FrancisFan, i said the exact same thing when i read Dave Cowens quote: "Thats a lie, Cowens, Moochie always makes those shots at westside, bettin' with Jim Macanville." ..but how was Cowens suppose to know. ------------------
I would think Cowens' comments were made in a post game interview with the disappointment of the loss still fresh on his mind. His comment was based on statistical probability and nothing more. Tell the truth. How many Rockets games do you want to end with Moochie shooting 35 foot shots when it means the game or OT? ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited December 16, 2000).]
Its just sour grapes on Dave's part. Just like Genius Phil's comment about "how bad" his Lakers played when we beat them last year. ------------------ Maybe all the rulers are wrong. Current Rocket's Salary & Contract Info
