Damn I voted Howard. Guess I won't buy any lottery tickets in the near future.

Thank God this board is right on the voting Lol.

Dwight's been great, really awesome to have him, but there's no question who the MVP on this team is.

Harden's number speak to him being the better player, but I can see a huge difference in the kinds of shots our other players get with each on the court. Howard opens up so much by simply being on the court. Other teams are afraid of both, but Howard's fear comes near the basket almost every play that he's in. Space near the basket is easily the most coveted commodity on the court. I give the nod to Howard, but it's certainly a tough choice, which is great for us and bad for them!

Daaaaamn. I definitely think Harden and voted Harden, but I thought the voting would be like 60/40. Surprised to see it this skewed. If I was shown that these would be results from a Clutchfans poll before this season, I'd have thought that it meant that Howard became a massive failure. Really it just shows how impressive Harden has been.

harden: multiple 30 plus pts, awesome ball handling, flashy jump shots.
Howard however, has a better narrative. A player whose arrival turn Rockets into a contender.

It had never been Howard or Asik. It was Howard or Iguodala+ Millsap in a very good scenario

Um, yes? If you've been paying attention at all this season, you'd know that the West was stacked. We're sitting at 48 wins. Dallas, the 8th seed, is sitting at 43 wins. I'm not saying this team is awful with Dwight / without Harden, but we certainly wouldn't be where we are now.

I just don't think Dwight can impose his offensive will on frontcourts anymore.

The Rockets going to war from game 1 until now, with this current roster minus Harden would probably be between Minny (34 wins) and Phoenix (42 wins).

Have you SEEN Howard in the post lately? Even throughout the season, he's had worse offensive games than he has good ones.

Besides, it was more of a team concept when Harden went out. There wasn't an unquestioned #1 option on the offensive side of the ball (unless a player just had it completely going that night).

and we would be where we are now without Howard's 19ppg and 12rpg? you're picking on Howard's offense , but what about his defense?
Let's face it with Asik out for half a season ,this team would be in a total mess without Howard .

Now that a lot of time has passed since the playoffs, I think it is clear that Howard was and still is the "MVP" of the Rockets (and it is not really close). He will continue being the MVP until his decline. He is the one leading the team, calling out defensive communications, and not pouting when he doesn't get the ball. In addition, it was Dwight who was making clutch plays in the playoffs. I saw one player raise his game to truly dominant, while the other was pooping his pants and whining about the stains.

I hope that yall start to recognize the importance of defence, and how numbers really cannot quantify defence. The only way is to watch the tape.

A and B tend to be pretty close or "controversial", so honestly, better than many other offseason threads.
