    I feel like its taken the years ~ 20 years to come full circle on the use of instant replay.

    They had it in the 80's/early 90's with central review, but were using it for anything/everything... and it was delaying games. Got rid of it entirely (stupid idea). Got it back with coaches having to use challenges, but head ref reviews all plays on sideline. Approved automatic replays (no challenges needed) for scoring plays and turnovers... now we are back to a form of central review.

    So in 20+ years, the end result is that they just limited the amount of replays done per game by introducing challenges. Got it.
