ofcourse more players will be involved but that will be the 2 main players. As much as I love KG I personally would not do it.
of course there would need to be more players involved. kg has a HUGE SALARY. based on salary reasons, no one would do it, but if he had a more manageable salary, obviously everybody would jump at the deal.
depends, I don't think its possible for KG and Francis to co-exist muchless Mobley + Francis and Garnett. Also, Yao isn't ready to be "da man" yet. Minnesota is going to end up relying on Wally world for leadership Bad trade for both teams.
No way. KG is way better now, but Yao still has amazing potential. I mean, hall of fame potential. So does KG, but Yao is very cheap compared to KG. Plus, anytime you have a good center, you don't want to trade him away.
nope. KG is at his best so far in his career but the way things go, and considering how tough the west is, i would go for a man like YAO. i mean, he's the only one that can slow down (yes. slow down, he hasnt stopped shaq YET) shaq. and with his young age and potential, ill just go with yao.
troo.. alot of champions have great centers in their roster. to name a few, hakeem olajuwon, shaq, abdul-jabbar, wilt chamberlain, mchale, and lots more. well, the bulls are an excemption coz who needs a good center when you have michael jordan??!
I'd have to go for it. Especially if they made it: Yao MoT Moochie Norris Rice for Garnett Basically, they get Yao cheap, and also get 10M cap space when KG's contract would've expired. MoT, I think, canstart at PF for them over Joe Smith, and Yao is their C. They can swing ONE mroe deal that includes Nesterovic and Peeler (expiring contract) for a decent SG, and then they'll have: Yao/Marc Jackson MoT/Joe Smith Wally/Rice Acquired SG Troy Hudson/Moochie Norris Which is not bad depending on that SG. I'm thinking the Clippers would LOVE to have Nesterovic (5M) and Peeler (not sure, but short) for their choice of their SG's (Maggette, Q Richardson, Draft pick maybe). But then, really, the Wolves don't IMPROVE as a contending team, so basically, they're starting over with capsapce and tons of young, high-potential talent. Here's what we look like: Cato/FA Signing? Griffin/Garnett Garnett/Boki Mobley Francis We could stand to sign a tough PF/C. I think with Garnett on board, PJ Brown would eb a SERIOUS candidate. The 1-2-3 punch of Garnett/Francis/Mobley would be unstoppable, and we can run the offense MAINLY through Garnett, like the Wolves do. Think of the block party (Cato/Griffin/Garnett).
No way it would ever happen. KG is going into the final year of his deal and there is no way the Rockets would give up Yao with there being a chance that KG will walk after the year. I wouldnt do it anyways because I've grown to love Mr. Ming and it would really suck to see him go.
Calling Yao Ming 'Mr. Ming' is like calling Cuttino Mobley 'Mr. Cuttino'. In China and Japan....Family name comes first and the given name comes second. Mr. Yao not Mr. Ming.
I wouldn't trade Yao for anyone. I think if given a chance any owner in the NBA would take Yao first if they had their choice of players to build around.
I would do it 7 days a week and twice on Sunday if I knew KG would sign long-term. I love Yao, but I love the Rox more and KG is right now what we HOPE Yao one day becomes. His contract would also come of the books next year, so if you could swing a deal the huge salary cap money wouldn't be a problem long term. Yao might be as good as KG, but he might not and KG is a proven MVP canidate for the next 8-10 years.
KG in the best player, but I would keep Yao, Simply because he's Houston. KG would be a refugee. We like our boys homegrown in Rocketland and we've proven that we are more successful this way. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's a Houston thing. To go with the locals. That gives us our best chance.
I wouldn't do it simply because the price. The only way it could even be fathomable is if Steve was traded. How are we going to have a guy with a double-max salary, and another with a max salary? The only way I would even consider it is if Garnett would be willing to sign a long-term contract at the normal max, and from what I've heard, he has no intention of doing that.
That team isn't much better than the Wolves teams of the past that have never made it past the first round and they won't be getting much better. So no I would not make the deal. Now if you trade Francis in place of Yao and pick up Tinsley or another true PG then I would probably do the deal. But then the wolves wouldn't
KG is at the top of his game. Noone knows the limit to Yao's. As of now, KG's offense > Yao's offense. It might take Yao 3,4 yrs to become that good if at all. KG's defense == Yao's defense. KG is better as guarding his own man but Yao guards the basket and alters the way the opp. attack us. Talent wise, KG is better than Yao now and we don't know the future but: 1) 28 mils is a lot of dough. Yao will get the max after his rookie contract but we won't have to pay Yao that kind of money ever. 2) Gate's receipt, merchandise sales here and abroad for Yao is much more than KG. My answer is no. I'll keep Yao, thank you.
You trade Yao for KG any day of the week. As much as Yao can be at the Center position, KG IS THAT NOW to the small forward position. Having CATO gives us the flexibility to move Yao. Minnesota can then deal with Yao's excessive use in the offseason, Team China obligations, resting him up as needed during the season. If you have the ability to land a TOP 5 player, much less a newly turned 27 year-old TOP 5, you do it. Whether that includes trading Francis OR Yao and all the necessary others to make salaries work, IMHO you do it. Now I wouldn't trade Yao and Griff for KG, if Yao is the centerpiece then the rest is add-ins (Rice, Posey via S&T, etc.) KG puts us in a position to contend for the title NEXT YEAR and many beyond that. You just hope (and pray) that CATO becomes a poor man's Ben Wallace with the added workload that would be put on him sans Yao. We'll need two big guns up front to contend with a San Antonio Spurs team + Jermaine Frickin' O'Neal. That team will be unbelievable!
Think of it this way - you turn Francis' headaches and a tear to Mo Taylor's achiles tendon (thus giving us a lotto shot at YAO) into KEVIN GARNETT!
i would in a heartbeat he puts up the best number in the league year in year out with the best at his position in the west, yao can be something special but KG's number are ridiculous for those worried abt KG staying with rockets after contract,,,what abt yao staying after his rookie contract...you gotta think abt if the rockets keep offense as is,,,it wont be good for him
Garnett is the mvp he is the best player in the nba. Yao has alot of potential, but we do not know how good he will be. The biggest problem for me are: the money, garnett makes to much money and second i like the idea of a player like yao starting hes career in houston and watching him becoming a great player ( i hope). but i have to react to a statements made here: Yao did not slow shaq down. He got 3 blocks after that shaq dominated him like he dominates every player in the nba I whink i would do that trade, Garnett has enough years ahead of him. Francis Garnett could be a great combo. But i also a great fan of yao. But i do not think i could resist getting Garnett here
