Seeing as a new era of Astros history is being ushered in as we speak (AL, fresh owner, rebuilding the right way under a great GM, etc.) I thought it appropriate to reflect on some of the history/nostalgia that's made our franchise so special to all of us. I'll get this pre AL trip down memory lane started. http://houston.astros.mlb.com/hou/images/astros50/timeline/1980_tl.jpg
Most enduring moment in Astros history in my opinion. If there is a single photo to capture the best of times for the Astros, this is it.
Third base dugout, third row. The second best live experience I've ever witnessed (Houston game 4 win vs. Orlando first, obvious is obvious). We were all so freaking nervous!
This happened in middle school for me, I got to stay up until the end of the game. One of my fondest memories
Not something anyone could watch in person or even catch on tv, but this would have been really cool to read about the in the papers. Satchel Paige, in full Astros garb, testing out what the Astrodome's air-conditioned environment would do to breaking balls before it opened in 1965.
you're right, I'm getting that extra inning affair confused with game 3 of the WS where I did stay up late, but still that Burke shot to the box was awesome
Now I'm even more confused. There was no walkoff win by the Astros in game 3 of the WS. U thinking about game 5 in 2004?
During that game it was in extras, and I had to leave to go to Club Tennis. Got back amazed that it was still going. It is my favorite moment all-time.
No I was explaining my confusion of the timing of the ending of the game and my staying up late, not the result. Geoff Blum broke my heart in game 3, I remember.
Was Game 3 the 14 inning affair? I'm one of the guys who left before it was over... haha, once the Sox went up in the 14th I was like, can't take no more... if they come back and win, more power to them. Yep, I'm that guy, who left the only WS game he's ever been to in person early.
