Those are not uniforms of a professional championship team. THose could be ugliest all time NBA uniforms
Had Brent Price not got injured, and had they not fallen in love with Matt Maloney from the start, things could have been different. Sure, they were all past their prime (and probably wouldn't be able to keep up in today's NBA)... but combined (and with Willis coming off the bench), they intimidated the hell out of teams. When the big 3 played and were all healthy together, they had an absurd record.
I do believe those uniforms cursed this team. They never got back to the Finals after the switch. And they only got to the WCF once in those pajamas. Look at what they did in the playoffs during that error(no, I did not misspell "era"): 1996 - Swept in the 2nd round by Seattle 1997 - Lose 4-2 to Utah in the WCF 1998 - Lose 3-2(after being up 2-1) to Utah in the 1st round 1999 - Lose 3-1 to the Lakers in the 1st round 2000 - Nothing 2001 - Nothing 2002 - Nothing 2003 - Nothing Whoever designed those things should be beaten with a rubber hose. Multiple times.
Whoever approved those uniforms should be beaten with a wrench as well. How do you go form one of the greatest uniform designs every to that garbage?
I don't see Brent Price helping their defense. I don't see him stopping Barkley from stubbornly and pathetically trying to post up Karl Malone and looking foolish while doing so. They had a better chance the following year as an 8 seed when Rudy started Kevin Willis over Barkley. But of course Barkley got injured, which has been a recurrent theme for this team over the years.

I remember that game. Barkley was the most upset because he knew that would be his last chance. I think his lard ass missed the switch on Stockton assignment..
Stupid pajamas... Some people remember where they were when Kennedy got shot and Rockets fans remember where they were when they first saw the pajamas.
If we switch back to the championship era jerseys I bet we'll pick up where we left off and start winning again.
I was in Western Sydney reading the weekly Pro Basketball paper, which was one of the only ways to stay updated on NBA basketball if you didn't have cable or that new thing called 'Internet', and I saw that the Rockets were unveiling new uniforms. I was so excited! It said that they were going to be pinstriped like the magic and jazzed up for the modern market. I was like yes! Then I saw the logo... I mean the logo and the font were great but it had an angry sex toy / Rocket circumnavigating the ball. I was a little shocked to say the least. I tried to embrace it, I really did. I bought the Barkley jersey, Clyde framed picture, a winter jacket, ball & the cap...which I still have all of the above...but something just didn't feel right about wearing my p.j's outdoors. That is why I love our new uniforms...the Red 'Chinese' design, mainly because I had to live through the P.J. Era.
