I wasn't saying they were, I was just pointing out that he was hoping to prove the people who said that he needed them to get a proper grip on the ball wrong, and instead he ended up proving them right. He really should have been smarter than that though. If he wanted to gamble like that he should have thrown without gloves at the combine, then with them at pro day so there would be a built in excuse for any poor performance, instead he tried to game the system and he lost.
I know I said I would come back at the draft, but.... I had a chance this afternoon to watch Bortles pro day live on Jacksonville's website. He through 50 passes and connected on 41...a few could be attributed to a "drop" but there were many that the receivers made some great catches to some poor throws. I don't want to hear any more about a qb's inefficiency of throwing long. Teddy is bad, Blake is bad, and I am sure Manzy will be too. It doesn't matter. Here is Teddy's pro day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53UMp-cKzEU Other than a few bad throws, his main issue is his utterly stupid decision to not wear gloves...which I see he admitted to today. And on that topic: IT IS NOT BAD IF A QB WHERE'S GLOVES. If he throws better with them because he doesn't have gorilla hands, then so what. Here is my final take on young Theodore: all he should have done since his great performance in Miami is work out and gain some muscle mass. Going to Florida with Weinke was a bad idea. Messed up his motion, movement, and led to his not wearing gloves. he should have just went out and performed vintage Teddy and then LET THE TEAM HE GOES TO DECIDE WHAT HE NEEDS TO CHANGE, NOT SOME AGENT HAS BEEN, LLC. Last but not least, let me share a little something. Teddy does not practice well. This is why in his freshman year it took Strong several games to put him in as the starter. Call it a mental thing. When it doesn't matter, it's different for him. But when the lights come on and the rubber meets the road, the switch is flicked and everything falls into place and he is a performer. Where will he end up? He could be working with BOB this fall, playing along side Peterson...or somewhere in between.
Peyton, Roethlisberger, and Rivers throw with gloves often so I don't see why that would be a problem, since the small hands issue was debunked at the combine.
True. I don't get why people are caught up with it and I certainly am in agreement with jdr6000 in that it seems kind of stupid to now throw the way you usually throw, i.e. with a glove.

i'm on the bridgewater bandwagon. if he can read defenses and knows how to go through progressions, i'll take it.
Athletes are creatures of habit, He thought that since he was throwing without gloves during training that he would be alright during his pro day. Nah stick to what got him there
The reason he was throwing without them during training was because he wanted to show that he didn't need them. One of the knocks on him was hand size, that he was completely dependent on gloves to get a good grip on the ball. He was hoping he could prove otherwise so he trained up without them hoping to put on a good show at his pro day not wearing them.
He seems to have learned his lesson, he still has private workouts though, so he has time The one good thing about all this is that the jags may get stupid and pass him over
I think it's too late for him to be in consideration for the top pick. He took a big gamble by not throwing at the combine, and then not wearing gloves for pro day and it bit him. So long as the Texans pick Clowney, I'd love for the Jags to pick Bridgewater.
First of all, I HIGHLY doubt Bridgewater makes it that long, especially if he has to face Clowney, Watt, and Cushing twice a year. The tiny framed, weak armed, inaccurate, glove dependent, Bridgewater is no one to worry about even if he is really good at Madden.
Flagrantly wrong His arm may not be a cannon, buts enough to make all the throws He is very accurate as well He had elite football instincts and IQ in college, if that translates to the pros, he will have the ball out of his hand before Watt and Clowney can even get to him
But not at pro day in a scripted friendly environment.... On short passes, yes. and into the hands of a DB who jumped the route to catch the slow, wobbly pass.
Funny how Matt Ryan, Manning and Montana all had poor or underwhelming prodays in a scripted friendly environment He is very accurate up to 25 yards If you saw the aforementioned pro days you would have said the same thing
I still believe Teddy will be the best QB in this draft and, short of being drafted by the Browns, I think he'll have a terrific pro career. However, as of right now, I do not believe he will be the Texans pick. It's going to be Bortles or Clowney, if I was a betting man.
