thats crazy, this is almost right up there with the rockets stats people forgetting that Lin tied the 3pt record with 9...makes me sick
Lowry was very good before he went down with the sickness. And Dragic played extremely well when Lowry went down with the sickness. He played mediocre AFTER he left Houston for a year. He only started thriving again this season. PGs did thrive in Houston. Both Lowry and Dragic were average backups before they came to Houston.
Rockets couldn't have found a better 1 than Lin once Dragic decides to leave. Better 1s already had a team. That's why NY found Felton.
Yi had the best physical attributes of the 3. Dude is legit 7-1 and was toted as a young Kevin Garnett, but never lived up to it.
I do not think Yi had the drive to be better, his game never improved much after he joined the NBA, unlike Yao. Lin is actually improved his game every year after he came into the league.
Good point. And I'll add to that shoot the ball for goodness sakes, don't wait untill 3 defenders surround you.
Not necessarily. Morey found Beverley in RUSSIA later that year. I'm not saying he's a better player (although the numbers are clear) but DM has a way of finding guys like Dragic and Lowry who are available with upside.
I think this is why some people are confused a bit about Lin's contract. Morey knew exactly what he was doing when he signed Lin to the poison pill. It wasn't only to prevent the knicks from signing Lin. It was also a highly favorable contract to the Rockets from a business perspective. S&P index returned 13% in 2012 and 29.6% in 2013. The 1st 3M not paid to Lin current is worth 4.4M. The second is worth ~3.8M. That's ~1.5M to 2M cash difference to Rocket's operating line. Note that this is an estimate because payment timeline isn't exactly synced with S&P. This is assuming Les would invest it in a index fund and not one of the higher return PE/Hedgefunds he probably has access to. This contract only sucks when you try to ship Lin out because other teams have to eat the last year, when they don't get the benefits for the 1st 2 years. In this case, you can probably send $ to sweeten the deal.
Every player has his dumb moment. When Rockets doesn't run and most players standing still, you will have TO because the offenses/passes are so predictable. Remember the recent game DH had 7 or 9 TO?
I think espn.com n nba.com has personal vendetta against Lin. If u notice the video highlights they dont normally feature Lin, only Lin's mistakes/turnovers. Even in pictures too.
dont know about espn, but I think nba portrays lin in a positive light (maybe because to appease international fans)
Matthew Dellavedova had a double double off the bench last night. Did he get a Sportcenter shout out? Who cares? I'm sure it's frustrating to have such an us against the world view of the NBA. The fact is that except for Rockets fans, nobody cares if any Rocket had a double double. If you're looking for personal coverage of Jeremy there are sites and Twitter accounts for that. Why do you think everyone is here for the Rockets? Major media doesn't give us as much information as we want on its own.
I don't mind that Lin wasn't mentioned in ESPN recap. After Linsanity, it's weird but I feel like the less attention on Lin. The better. At least for now. And we all know ESPN sucks. Still it was a bit of a shock to be reminded again how the media are driven by their predefined narratives ... And for now all the Rockets starters and even a big chuck of bench are hotter narratives than Lin.
As long as Lin understands that when he steps on the court that we are asking for a 6th man and not a PG, he should be OK. That being said, if he keeps doing the same stupid things over and over, we will just simply have to wait until we get rid of him. It all starts with what is going on in between his ears.
