What's great about Rubio is that even with his putrid shooting percentages he's still a valuable member of that team because he can do so many other things, and can do them well. That being said, if he doesn't eventually improve his shooting and finishing ability, he'll never be a top 5 PG
??? So just because you don't shoot efficiently you can't be top 5 or top 10 at anything? He's a top 3 passer/floor general and top 5 defensive point guard
Rubio is this generation's jason kidd, a great passer with good height...on the other hand, in today's NBA, if you're a PG who can't score the ball, you're worthless, no one will guard you. In fact, it wasn't until Kidd became a good spot up 3pt shooter that he won a title with dallas as a key member.
John Wall, Conley, Rondo, Paul are all better defenders then Rubio. Hell from the games I've watched, he's not even a great defender.
That's not all I'm looking at. He has good lateral movement, good defensive fundamentals, and can disrupt passing lanes with his long arms. However, he has had some poor defensive games as well, like tonight. Allowing 14 points to Beverley in 3 quarters isn't exactly great defense.
I've seen Felton and old man Fisher run circles around him. Definitely an overrated defender and an overlooked flopper.
I would take Rubio for Lin and Bev trade, plus a first rounder. Having Rubio play with a power center and a slasher like Harden and lots of good shooters will be unstoppable.
