He probably wants more money than we can afford and/or are willing to pay for someone who's not a long term solution. I also don't think he's a good fit for O'Brien's offense.
The Texans are drafting Clowney or another pass rusher with the 1st. I bet they don't sign a QB at all and we draft one next year.
It's not even that... what available QB would do better? Bridgewater? Sure he has a future but he's not winning us any more games than Fitzpatrick could this year.
I have a hard time seeing the Texans not taking a QB with their first pick. No way BOB goes into his first year as a coach with Fitz as his main man. The only way I see Clowney being selected is if we go with Schaub for another year. Otherwise, it's QB all the way, even if none of the prospects are mind blowing.
I don't want Bridgewater. That's the point, there is no one who will be better. Not a rookie, not a washout.
We're aiming for the future...doesnt really matter what Bridge does as a rookie compared to an aging vet like Fitz. McNair has stated from the start that we will sign a veteran QB during the offseason. This isnt a sign that we arent going to draft a QB. I mean, this is Ryan ****ing Fitzpatrick we are talking about here.
I have a hard time believing O'Brien is going to tie his career to any of the QBs in this draft. He knows if they bust, he's likely not gonna last long in Houston. Sign a vet and wait for the 2015 QB class.
Sounds like Peyton Manning redux. He "probably wants more money than we can afford". May as well assume it instead of actually ever knowing the answer. The season is lost before it starts with Ryan Fitzpatrick as our starting QB. Not to mention, downright depressing. Vick provides a glimmer of hope. And infinite more excitement. We all know Bob would never even consider it though.
This is the worst team in the NFL we're taking about here. This was a 2-14 team we're talking about. Rebuild NOT reload. Next year is the QB draft.
probably the best QB on the market not named Schaub. He's a smart guy, so i guess that's the important box to check as far as BOB is concerned. Have always liked him despite his obvious flaws. There is a little magic to him. If we could move Schaub for a 6th rounder and sign Fitz, i think that would be great
It's not about this season. It's about setting this team up so that they can sustain success, not just ride a year and a half wave like the 2011-2012 teams did. If that means suffering through Ryan Fitzpatrick and only winning 5 games this year, so be it. Draft well, get the cap situation under control, and get another high draft pick with a shot at a franchise QB next year.
I don't like the idea of a future with Bridgewater at the helm. And I think he's the best QB available this year.
Well, with his small frame and his relative lack of mobility, he probably wouldn't be at the helm for long.....silver lining?
Why suffer through Ryan Fitzpatrick and be resigned to your fate before Week 1 if you can sign somebody who could make your season interesting though? He's an awful signing. If the goal is solely to position ourselves for the future, don't sign anybody. Start Keenum and tank the season and get the #1 pick. Bringing in Vick for a year or two wouldn't exactly mortgage our future.
As an aside, if the Texans sign Fitzy, he will have started at least 5 games for 5 different teams. Is it safe to say that no other QB in NFL history has ever done that?
