    Hello,

Can anyone recommend someone that aerates lawns? I was going to rent an aerator and do it myself but those things are 250 lbs! How much would it cost to have someone come out and do it?

It's likely self propelled too. Probably best to just do it yourself.

Reminds me of a Bill Engvall joke. Talking about Sky Mall Magazine.

And they sell some stupid stuff in there. Have you seen that rubber thing you put on your shoes? And it says “You can aerate your own lawn.”
Okay, how big a loser are you, stomping around your yard? “I’m saving money.”
Don’t get me wrong; it works.

I checked the rental price from home depot and it came out to around $50. it's also 230+ lbs so it would be a hassle to bring it home. If I could get a professional to come out and do it for like $50-70 bucks I would rather do that.

Lawns aerate themselves. Spend the money on quality fertilizer from John Deere Landscapes instead.

Microorganisms, worms, etc aerate lawns in nature just fine.

Thatch can build up if you over fertilize but I doubt that is a big problem in the winter when your grass is dormant, plus it will fix itself.

If your lawn is not doing well, these things are not the reason.

You are being sold a service.

This is the first time I have ever heard this. Some lawns actually need to be plugged/aerated. Last year I spent money on the quality fertilizers you speak of, but nothing came of it. Hence my need for aerating the lawn this time around.
