I agree I liked 2k3 a lot better than Live 2003, but I hear 2k4 seems more like the arcade type game this year and live 2004 is moving back towards the sim type of play. The best thing about live 2004 will be the Dynasty mode also. Sounds like Live 2004 will be back in the front this year.
couldnt have said it better myslef. but, ill give live 2004 a benefit of a doubt. they might really improved last year's dissapointment. but, 2k4 all the way!
I only have a PS2 but from looking at screens the XBox seems to have better looking smoother graphics.
i've had NBA Live since '95, and i'm planning on getting it again in '04. no game ever had the realistic gameplay the live has.
I second that, man. NBA LIVE 2003 is a pretty boring and unrealistic gameplay. The graphics are excellent, but the playing is too fast and too unrealistic. You want a true game that you can call plays in and has the pace and style of the real games? Simple, I play NBA2k3, and will play NBA2k4 when it is out. --------------------------------- "Fly like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee, Rumble Young Man Rumble!" - The Greatest
yao sucks at the advanced ball handling though. there are certain tricks i can't do with him without getting the ball stolen. he's a great shot blocker though. but at least i have dime. created my own player and became a street legend. improved the player by acquiring trick points and getting level 2 gamebreakers all the time. also got 1996 version of michael jordan to be on my team.
People, what is wrong with you? EA is where it's at! Have you played NBA Street??? (esp. Volume 2) These people can do no wrong. I never really had a problem with arcadeyness anyways. I know the main complaint with Live was that it didn't stand up to 2K3 as far as realism goes, but for one thing, that's likely to be improved on this time around, plus it was still just fun. Things are only going to get better with their new deal with Nintendo and the Gamecube.
Why do you care? Why do they have to fix it? Why don't you just buy NBA Live instead of 2K4? Do you have some kind of fetish for Sega games? Oh, and buy it on the GameCube.
Good... Good... Good... OH, why did you have to mess up by putting "the quitter" on your memory card? Anyway... who is that behind Yaho on http://www.easports.com/games/nbalive2004/home.jsp the cover? Is that Sugar Ray Leonard?
True, but at the same time, Yao looks much more realistic than he's been in any other game I've seen.
It's called buying better games on better systems. Gamecube is for children. No online play and crappier graphics. Wow...what a steal. I buy Sega Sports games cause in my opinion, they are superior to EA. EA makes average games and gets away by using their marketing muscle and deep pockets.
For people who play the 2k series on ps2 and xbox, here is a first impression of NBA 2K4 at E3 Sega Sports consistently focuses on two things when they ship out one of their sports titles: graphics and realism. Their titles have consistently been in the center of the ongoing best sports video games debates in the past few years. And now that they are in their second year of a partnership with ESPN, they’re quickly closing the gap (some say they’ve already passed) between themselves and EA Sports, the previously undisputed king of sports video games. Visual Concepts has packaged NBA 2K4 to be even more realistic than last year’s NBA 2K3. The main factor? Speed. NBA 2K4 moves much faster than 2K3, adding more action to a game that is already the best basketball simulation on the market. Of course it’s not just the speed of the game that brings the action up a notch. The players this year are much more responsive and player specific, so super slasher Stephon Marbury can penetrate realistically and the lightning quick Tony Parker can go head-to-head with him on defense more responsively. The other big addition to the NBA 2K series this year is the expanded ESPN presentation. The goal of Visual Concepts this year was to bring the element of television style presentation to the game, and they’ve done it with new camera angles, stylish wipes, and in-game stats. It won’t be surprising to see passers-by do a double-take with the new presentation. Other improvements should further cement NBA 2K4 as the premier basketball simulation on the market. Whereas last year’s game featured thirty or so individually modeled heads for the star players, this year’s version throws mapped noggins on every player. Finally guys like Brad Miller can get their spot in the limelight along superstars like Tracy McGrady. The “progressive sweat” graphics are still there, but they still make players look like wax figurines instead of perspiring athletes. All the animations in the game have been smoothed over and improved, and the game moves along more like a real NBA game with shots being blocked from behind, more deflected passes, and more entertaining cutscenes. There are plans to incorporate a multi-player franchise mode, but the details haven’t been solidified. Both the PS2 and Xbox version will be playable on-line, complete with chat, downloadable rosters, and more. NBA 2K4 will ship in Fall of 2003.
Sega is way better!!!!!!! Always!!!! But maybe I will try Live. And lol....if NBA Baller can improve its graphics...I'll get that too.
