    If it turns out the hijacked plane did crash into the ocean somewhere, it's going to be really frustrating not ever really knowing what in the hell the hijackers were planning to do. Unless their plan was to hijack the plane and crash it into the ocean, which is just weird.

    Yeah, this is new information and a pretty significant one.

    This plane flew for almost 2 hours longer than how long it would have flown for had it reached Beijing.

    Reading the wikipedia page on this thing...it's just a cascade of contradictory and unreliable information. It's so inept at times you wonder if it's intentional.

    What time did this story initially break? I remember getting a news alert on my phone, but I can't remember when...I'm curious if we knew about it while it was still in the air, now that we know it was in the air till 8:11am.
