The Rockets always manage to stir something up on draft day so i think this year is no different besides it is the most "anticipated" draft of all time they got to do something so here is my thought...

The Clippers who always draft for positions they have pleny of (example last year they drafted Wilcox and Ely when they already had Brand and Olawakandi) have a top five pick which will most likely be 4 or 5 so i say they draft Ford and send that pick along with Odom to the Rockets for Mobley and or Griffin......If the Clippers end up with Ford you know there is gonna be a trade they wouldn't dare have Ford and Miller in the backcout plus that lets Steve move to the 2 and it puts fans in the seats in the new arena you get tj that comes home....Yao... and steve who is gonna lead the league in scoring...

    Line up

    Yao
    Odom
    Taylor
    Ford
    Francis

(note im not a longhorn but it makes sense)

I like this trade quite a bit, it is a bit suspect of defense though.

But Im just not sure if the Clippers would do it though. Im with you on this one though heres with some wishful thinking

U got a point ******, Tj Ford makes everybody around him better including steve and Yao, and i think Tj would be better than Jay Will, well somebody finally made a good and possible trade option.

You know like i said before this trade would be great. But I will laugh if all this trade talk on these boards is for naught and we go into next season with the same roster and same coaches.:p

A TJ and Francis backcourt, I think that I could even score on them.

The Clippers sucks yea.. but they aren't dumb..
I dont think they would accept Mobley and Griffin, if they did then I would be happy... really..

If we do have such luck with Ford/4or5 pick.. and Odom for Mobley and Griffin...I wouldn't be sure if Ford would be a starter...

it would take time and the potential for him is pretty high the way i see it..

so if i was the GM and we do have such luck with the Ford and Odom trade.. (trying to get a PF and a backup PG)

i would try to trade Glen Rice and maybe Posey... but it would depend on the PF we are trying to get to replace Griffin (if the deal is in our favor then trade but if its not necessary then dont) .. the 2 guard can play in for Francis and we can get some scrub for backup since Francis will have a lot of playing time.. i would like to see Francis play the PG when Ford isn't in there and when Ford is in ... then play Francis at the SG.. tough task for Francis but thats what a max player gotta dooo... and when Francis plays the SG we can get the PG that we recieve from the trade... or some scrub like Moochie .. man.. we need to cut moochie.. he sees the floor well but hes kinda slow.. and the dribble clock is a problem.. but back to my man forget it...

    here :)

Mobley + Griffin for Odom + Ford

    Yao
    Taylor
    Odom
    Francis
    Ford

Trade Glen Rice and Moochie...(prolly Posey too if we can get some good players out of it) for a decent PF and a back up PG or decent starting PG

    using examples:

    Yao/Cato
Taylor/Swift < i like the young PF with attitude.. Randolph, Bender, Swift
Odom/Nachbar < he needs playing time!!
    Francis/Hawkins
    Ford/Crawford

but this is just my wish list..
    ;)

If the Clips draft Ford they'll keep that low salary and trade us Miller.

    1) Clippers wouldn't trade Ford if they got him.

    2) We are NOT about to get anymore rookies. We are loaded with youth, what we need is veterans. If someone wants OUR young guys, that's fine.

In the worst case I think we should just stick with our 2nd round pic and draft that Slovinian PG.Let him play one year in Italy(currently contracted there) and come make an impact on the Rockets bench ala Ginobili.

My dream draft would be to trade up to the mid first round and draft French MVP Boris DIAW.Tall(6'9) SG with court vision and play making skills of a PG.The Perfect guy to complement SF!;)
But there again I'd see him coming from the bench this year behind a tall old PG like McInnis or A.Williams.

    Sane,

    EXACTLY!!

We need maturity, stability, toughness and a little more veteran leadership. I look for a couple of trades and FA signings to fill these voids.

young or not, TJ Ford would instantly turn our team around on offense. tj just gets people wide open looks all the time. if our players at UT could ever catch the damn ball (Thomas?), Tj would have averaged double digit dimes.

All of these trades about Ford and Odom sound great, but we all know the Rockets aren't going to do it. They just need to go after McInnis and a PJ Brown. I really like Jerome Williams style of play. High energy and a consistant 12,10 guy. What would it take to bring JYD to H-town? Hopefully the new arena can be used as bate to get free agents too.

T.J. Ford is not the real deal. He is too small for the Pros, not a consitant quality shooter, or defender. His passing skills are superb. His lack of other abilities don't make up for his size like Iverson, Avery Johnson, Calvin Murphy, Mugsy, Spud, ect..

This a WEAK draft which is probably why he came out. To cash in.

J, Williams is struggling and he is a far better ball player than Ford.

A list of better PG who are having difficulties or out of the league.

    1) J. Williams (Bulls)

    2) M. Cleaves

    3) Tyus Edney

    4) Miles Simon

Okay, we trade Cuttino Mobley for the 12th pick.

Stern walks up to the podium with the excitement buzzing all around him. The crowd awaits the 8th pick.

"We have a trade to announce," Stern says with a smile on his face.

    Crowd gets more excited.

"The Toronto Raptors have traded the third overall pick and the rights to Carmelo Anthony along with Vince Carter and Alvin Williams to the Houston Rockets for Eddie Griffin, Moochie Norris and Steve Francis."

    Crowd gasps.

Rockets fans are dumbfounded. Why this trade? What they don't know is that 3 years from that moment Carter turns into the aggressive, polished superstar he was always projected to be, Anthony is a stud SG/SF/PF, and Williams is the pass-first PG they had always hoped for.

    Behold:

    PG Williams
    SG Carter/Posey
    SF Anthony
    PF Taylor/Collison (12th pick)
    C Ming/Cato

...JUST KIDDING. Hey, it's fun dreaming about Draft-day rapes in Houston's advantage during a long and boring offseason. :)

I do not understand why people continue to express a desire to have Lamar Odom. How many games does he miss due to injury? Hasn't he also been busted with pot? If winning a championship was directly related to how many talented players you had on your team then Portland would have been killing teams. If you look at all championship teams they all have:

    1) 2 stars
    2) experience
    3) complementary role players to those stars
    4) good coaching

The NBA is not a video game, you cannot have a star at every position and win.

If this proposed trade was to happen we would be right back in the lottery next year. (BTW I think TJ Ford will be a good player eventually, but we do not need anymore youth.) :)

TJ would help our offense transition from iso to motion because he has that ability to know where there teammates are and get them the ball where they can score without breaking their defender down. TJ took a team that has very limited offensive skill and turned it into a final four team that only fell to the nastiest zone in college basketball (TJ had 12 points and 13 assists in an "offgame"). In my opinion, TJ is either going to be very good or a complete bust. If his J doesn't get good enough for an opponent to have to atleast get up on him he'll have problems. If it does he'll be able to get by anybody and then he has the best vision of any player in the college game to find the open man from defensive rotation. I dont think that we have a snowball's chance at TJ, but getting him would improve our offense immediately.
