I agree. I can trash what goes on here with the best of them but we are a gold standard compared to some of these countries. And I can choose to go elsewhere where (though choose not to) but some of these people are just stuck where they are.

This is really too bad Malaysia is seemingly doing such a poor job on this situation. It is one of the success stories of Southeast Asia and KL is a very clean and modern city.

Also to add it is a very beautiful country with some great beaches, jungles, history, friendly people, history and great food. While this situation is horribly tragic if they had handled it better this could've been a great opportunity to show how developed a country they are and their concern for visitors.

Yeah it's a real shame that Malaysia is missing this opportunity to advertise their beaches on the world stage.

It's not everyday you get the world watching you when 300 people die. You have to be ready for that!

Chinese took those images Sunday so they may know a lot more now (three days has passed).

I do not understand all the secrecy. This is a commercial jet, not a military operation.

BTW those pieces are close to where the plane went missing.

Yeah the story was just updated and now we know these images were taken three days ago. So they probably mean very little.

Why so tight lipped? Do these military groups know things they don't want out there at this point?

Possible that they don't want to let their neighbors know just how powerful their satellites are. If there weren't so many Chinese citizens on the flight, I'm not sure China would have provided any satellite data.

I didn't say they should be advertizing beaches but that they have great beaches.

If they would've handled this situation well it would've gone a long way to showing that they are competent and modern. Instead they look like the opposite which will discourage people from visiting in the future.

They haven't released these to the public yet right? I saw in another forum that they had posted the dimensions (or someone had access to the info), the poster said the parts were too large to be a fuselage, but could be part of the wings. Can't confirm without photos or source of dimensions release...still looking.

Do you realize how awkward the post sounded that was quoted by justtxyank?

The largest piece appears to be 79ft x 72ft.

Yes it was awkwardly posted and my point wasn't to make light of the tragedy for Malaysian tourism. Just stating that Malaysia isn't some third world hell hole but their failure to do a better job on this situation is making them look that way.

I would be very careful about calling that the plane. This area has a lot of traffic so this could be a piece of a ship or even a lot of trash.

The coordinates posted with those pictures is out in the Gulf of Thailand, I don't think those are the correct coordinates (6°42'N 105°38'E), I think they mistakenly put the coordinates of last contact because I heard these images are over the Malacca Strait (confirming the radar data that indicated the plane banked left)

I'm not calling it a plane. Simply passing on the information that they "suspect" these could be plane parts. It would indeed be very strange for such a busy commerce shipping lane to not have noticed these pieces.

I don't know about the rest of Malaysia, have only been to Kuala Lumpur recently. My first and last flight on Malaysia Airlines. 24 hours delay, horrible management of the situation, was made to come to the airport, spent like 5 hours waiting in the plane, then de-boarded, 1 or 2 clueless employees to handle sorting out explaining a 24-hour delay to almost 500 passengers in the middle of the night. Just terrible. No care or compensation either.
