Ok here is the situation. I have this IP address that needs to be looked up and I have know idea how to do it. I am hoping some of you can point me in the right direction.
not exactly looking for my IP address. I have someone elses and I need to know who they are. So how do you look up other peoples IP's? I know this could be illegal but I promise I don't intend to do anything other than get the person's name of the IP.
It's just a bunch of #'s like: "43.324.324.23" Why don't you just ask this person their name or where they are from?
Pretty sure there is a site on the internet where you could put in the persons ip address and it could what state or town they are in.
Arin will tell you who owns the network block http://www.arin.net/ a traceroute will normally tell you the city and/or state of the IP http://www.traceroute.org/
try www.whois.com you can look up domain names and i think IP addresses. itll give you any registered information. name, buisness. address. phone numbers . email etc.....
Depends on what you mean by looking an IP up. If you want to trace its origination, one of the best online tools is www.samspade.org.
I have their IP address. I just need to know who is behind the computer. They are trying to hook up with one of my friends and are trying to be secretive. We are trying to figure out who it is b/c they won't tell us. I tried some of the suggestions you guys have given me and all I can come up with is they are using America Online and it is somewhere in Virginia. I don't think this person lives anywhere in virginia. I am unfortunately from arkansas and they live close to here. Would any of you be willing to help me out because I am computer illiterate. I can provide you the IP and you just tell me what you come up with.
I know I am probably opening a can of worms but... Did you ever consider that it may be Bill Clinton? Maybe that is why they are being so secretive
you cannot findout who is operating that computer from an IP...especially over AOL. the only way would be if you could get the AOL techs to track down what username was accessing...and even that is an impossibility..
Wish I would have known you gave up already...I already gave your info to the FBI Internet Task Force as a "person of interest". Oh well.
