I loved the Posey addition to the team. It was like we had a 3-guard offense along with a defensive stopper. It is apparent, however, that he is always going to be the guy teams rotate off to double team our go-to guys. What do the experts here think of his shot? With practice, could he develop into a very reliable shooting role player, ala Bruce Bowen? Posey's shot does not look too pretty to me. This should be a real consideration in the decision to keep him IMO.

Posey has a decent shot that can be improved. I think he will be a better all around player than Bowen. He could be exactly the kind of player we need at the 3 but that's only if our PF and Shooting/point guard (depending on where Francis plays) improve. So either our current players need to improve drastically during the offseason or we need to trade.

Yeah, it's an ugly shot, but throughout his career I think he's shot around 36-39% from 3-point land, which isn't bad. I think as long as he keeps working at it, it will be fine. He will have horrible games, and hopefully our bench (ie Nachbar) is deep enough to make up for it when he is off.

I don't think he really needs a shot if he can get the kinda shots he likes, dunks.

If our offense improves, we should see Posey slashing to the basket more and a whole lot more fast breaks.

Posey is great. Alleyoop dunks. He is left completely wide open at times.

He makes one once in a while....

But remember at the end of the season..HE WAS DRAINING TREYS?!? He was just great. He didn't jump. It was a set shot and released it very quickly. He seems to make it when he doesn't think too much. Just catch and shoot. He was making a bunch of 3's since he was always being left open.

If he can improve his shooting and become more consistent.........he will be great!!!!!

I think if he does return....he should be utilized more and be more involved in our offense.

He can run.......we need to improve our fast break offense.

And we need to use him more often......as a cutter and stuff.

pose is one of the greatest additions in rocs. he can be the third go to player (im not thinkin mobley would be a "go to player"). he's like the third or fourth captain of the team next to steve and yao. with pose, rocs has incredible defense, fast up and down plays, and great rotation. we should keep posey until he retires.

Posey can be more effective with better point guard play but he needs to work a lot more on his shooting which is inconsistant. He hasn't gotten much better at it since he got into the league which is a matter of concern. I would still like to resign him but not for more than 4.5 million a year.

I think Posey is an excellent fit. He worked well with Steve and demonstrated he could be part of an uptempo run and gun offense.

The tandem of Posey and Rice next year is diverse enough to allow different offensive/defensive looks and can create matchup problems. Either Nachbar or Morris needs to step up to compete with these two, or we need to look at trading/adding another 3. Watching the Dallas, Sacremento, San Antonio, & even NJ's of the league we just can not have enough firepowerat that position. I think a tall three that can extend to the 3 pt. (ala a younger Rice type or a Dirk wanna bee) is what would work as a third option at that position.

But back to Posey, I think he is what we were looking for in Shandon, with Posey just needing to stiffen up his D a little (he is a good ball hawk). I'm more than satisfied with going with him as the starter next year.

I love Posey on the Rockets. However, the big question remains: will the Rockets be able to keep him?

    No more than 4.5 million?

    NO MORE THAN 3 million!!!!!!

Yes...he's great...but Odom would be better.

Posey would be a nice backup though.

Posey can hit those fallaways. He just doesn't have a very good set shot.

Posey's shot. Hey, at least he puts arch on it.

I don't think he'll ever get a good jumper, but I think he could really shine if he was paired with a great pg like a Kidd or Payton, or even a team that just pushes the ball.

He is a great finisher and average shooter at best.

    Strong defender.

Nothing else to say about JP.

He definitely needs to work on his shot. But he's a great slasher, he hustles, he defends. All in all I like him.

And, like him or not, he'll be back next year, so let's hope CD doesn't screw up and overpay him, too.

Posey would be much more effective playing with a PG like Jason Kidd.

Kidd is the king of fast breaks and Posey's game seems custom made for that.
