I repressed that game from my memory. It hurts my soul just thinking about it...

I wouldn't say the Blazers gave the game to the Rockets. The Rockets took the game from them

If I was a Portland fan I would take the loss and hope that the NBA doesn't look further into that game. We already had a thread on it, but those refs basically spotted Portland a 15pt advantage with all their missed calls (like the 24 second shot clock violation followed by the offensive rebound and made 3) and borderline calls that went against the Rockets (like Hamilton's phantom offensive foul and the shot that was rescinded at the end of the 3rd quarter). Hell, at least half those offensive fouls were also bogus.

I went to the Blazersedge website just before halftime, and all those fans were just chiding us for being whiners. Not a single one of them acknowledged the officiating disparity, in a manner I think any self-respecting Rocket fan would were we in the opposite situation.

So, long story short, suck it Portland. I have no sympathy for you and may your team jump-shoot and flop its way into perennial mediocrity for the next five years.

I don't think we were unmotivated the Blazers had the tempo and controlled the game for first 3 quarters, The refs killed the momentum for both teams, very questionable calls down the stretch, harden kept the game close by hitting 3's and we were able to tie the game, take it to overtime and we won it.

Unmotivated is the right word, our guys were playing lazy at first, getting out hustled all over the place.

They need to play harder for 48 minutes and they would not need that extra 5 mins.

The Thunder game where we scored 70 in the first half and like 23 in the 2nd?

What a whiny bunch. Jesus Christ. They scored how many of their last points in the 4th at the FT line? How many points did they score in the 4th...? They went cold and the rockets picked it up and made shots.

So many calls went against us but those biased crybabies have the same attitude Wes Mathews has. he could have sealed it by making 1 FT but chose to cry instead.

While I'm glad we got the victory, I do think it's fairly obvious that James does have games where he overdoes it. Flat out, he flops and flails on the ground.

Other times, it's not a flop, but a smart maneuver to force an opposing player to foul him, based on the position of his arms when he protects the ball on a drive. In that sense, he's brilliant.

My main concern is that James will not get the same calls in the playoffs when it's a grind-it-out type of game. I don't think we'll see James getting to the line 10+ times like we do now.

I hope that he chooses his "foul battles" carefully because it only takes a few flops for refs to forget about calling fouls in your favor. It sucks, but that's how the game goes nowadays.

In terms of Pat's sock to the nose, he was fouled. Was it as bad as he made it? No. Did it hurt? Hell yeah. Did he embellish? Yeah. Should it have been called? Yes, BUT it's all about consistency. That was a gutsy call by the officials.

I hope we see them in the post-season. That would be a fun series...I loved when we played them a few seasons ago and AB, RonRon and Yao dominated. That 3 ball from Shane in game 5 still is one of my favorite daggers.

Love the Rox. Shout out to Dwight...he deserves more credit for the offensive rebounds and keeping things tough down low.

its true, but it says something special about our team. 10 minutes of 100% effort was enough to win against the blazers. if we keep it together for 2, 3, or 4 quarters we can beat anyone in a series.

i dont blame them for coming out flat. they had used a lot of emotional energy against the heat and pacers recently and just looked drained.

tough road trip coming up, they need to get some rest, meditate, do whatever it takes to refill their emotional fuel tank and come out with 100% effort on each game of this trip. if they do that they will be in play for the 2nd seed in the west.

Players average more free throws in the playoffs than in the regular season. James Harden himself had more free throws in the playoffs than in the regular season last season.

They have floppers on their team, specifically Batum and Matthews.

I thought you were the undercover Blazers writer.

TBH, it was a devastating lost for them. I'd feel really bad if I were them. But I'm glad I'm on the winning side.

Matthews and Lillard don't play defense. Lopez erases a lot of their mistakes but on their own, they couldn't defend any type of opponent whether quick ones or standstill jump shooters. only have themselves to blame.
