Couldn't get my weed eater to start this past weekend and I think I'm just wanting to get a new quality trimmer. The one I have now is a cheap Featherlight from Walmart. I really want a trimmer that packs some kick and can use attachments. Ideally a blower and or hedge trimmer. Looking to spend between $200-300 before adding the cost of attachments. I'm open to both two and four stroke engines. No electric or battery powered.
I've had nothing but good luck with Stihl and Ecco products - chainsaws, trimmers and such. The key to any of them go is regular maintenance, especially the airfilter and carb. Also, buy brand name high quality fuel/oil mix.
Go with a trimmer without attachments. I have an SRM-280T and it works well. Ethanol in fuel kills small engines so either drain or use fuel without ethanol.
I have an Echo. Probably the best investment I have made in a tool. Starts every time, easy to work on, more power than I need to clear my yard. Stihl also makes great trimmers.
Echo SRM-225 After years of using other brands I finally went with an Echo SRM-225 at Home Depot. It's on sale for $199 (regular $219 so only $20 savings). So far Echo is the easiest trimmer for me to start even after sitting unused during the winter.
I'm hesitant to respond on your thread. The last time a thread about weed eaters was started, I was treated like a heathen, and nearly impaled. Regardless, I'm going to put my big boy pants on and share my experience... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=7873598&postcount=23 ....... ....... .......
You were treated like a guy saying crap that isn't true. Still butthurt? LOL http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=7888477&postcount=49
Do you have bad comprehension skills? I showed you Husqvarna's website AND YOU STILL insist that I'm making things up. LOL... the only one butthurt is YOU! You have nothing to go by except your personal opinion, which at the moment isn't worth much! If you had any dignity you would accept that you were wrong, but I guess that's too much to ask. I STAND BY WHAT I SAID AND WROTE! http://www.husqvarna.com/us/products/blowers/150bt/ ....... ....... .......
Husqvarna USA > Homeowner > Products > Blowers > 150BT Commercial blowers have a ton of power and cost about twice what you paid. That is because unlike a Homeowner, commercial landscapers get paid about a dollar a minute and the powerful blowers save a TON of time. Plus the thing is a pig and weighs way to much to carry all day. Another plus of Commercial lawn equipment is light weight. It's cool bro, I have a Homeowner blower also. I spent money on a Commercial mower (Exmark) and Trimmer (Echo 280T) and saved on a Homeowner blower like yourself.
Look bro, I know exactly what you're saying, the only thing that I have a problem with is that you called me a liar, and I wasn't lying, if there is any lying going on it's being done by Husqvarna! I read their info directly from their website, and I commented according to the information they provided! I have the 150bt, and I have no complaints about it. Regardless, it's time to put this discussion six feet under. GO ROCKETS!!! ....... ....... .......
These were the only two posts I made in that thread after yours. I didn't call you a liar, and I didn't treat you like a "heathen" and you were never "nearly impaled". I just tried to get the correct info out there in a concise manner. Marketing confuses people, as was pointed out to you in that thread. This is marketed as commercial 33" mower Spoiler It isn't commercial. This is what a real commercial 36" mower looks like. Spoiler People come to discussion forums to get the real scoop that sees past the marketing.
I went with the Husqvarna 128LD. 28-cc 2-Cycle engine and $199 @ Lowes. It was in my price range and had very good reviews. I know that Stihl and Echo are the Cadilacs or trimmers but I read a lot of good stuff about Husqvarna as well. Also ignored the advice about attachments and bought a 22" hedge trimmer attachment. I'll either walk away pleased or learn things the hard way yet again.
Glad you finally got your new toy! I've read positive reviews on that model as well, but if you end up not liking it, it's not because you didn't do your homework! Have fun weed eating!!...( no pun intended.. ) ....... ....... .......
The disadvantage to attachments is only that the tool is now about 3 feet away making it tiring and awkward to use when pushing it through to cut. as opposed to a dedicated hedge trimmer where the blades start right at the front handle
