The San Antonio Spurs... I believe right now we not San Antonio are the most dangerous team in the league.

And if we hadn't dropped 4-5 easy/lucky ones we'd be the top in the league.

And people were doubting the Spurs.

Rule #1: Never count out the Spurs

    Nah, teams slump

All top teams have lost some derpy games to bad teams

things are finally evened out, and we are hot right now while others aren't

this will be a interesting playoffs in the west, anyone can beat anyone, and I'm kinda scurred about Clippers to be honest, they seem to have our number

    Forget the 4-5 easy ones.

Twin Towers for 20 games is what cost us a higher seed. Asik + Dwight is something you use selectively... not *every* game. Unfortunately it took McHale and Co. a LOOOOOONG time to accept that truth.

Kinda pissed that Parker is back already. When they said "indefinitely," I assumed he's gonna be out until a a week or so before the playoffs. Damn.

We beat them three times, but don't underestimate them. They're still scary. Matter of fact, don't underestimate any team. That's the first step to losing.

Do not underestimate any team at this point especially the Spurs. Their record is despite being gimpy for good chunks of the season. I dunno how well we would have managed if we had the same misfortunes as they do/did.

The Spurs are the ONE team that you can never underestimate. Just when you think they're flat on their back, they sit their big three and STILL run all over you.

Even if the Spurs had the 5th seed, as long as Pops is heading the team I would give them their due respect Especially in the play offs.

Just remember, 16s from another Championship last year...

You don't have to fear the Spurs, just give them the respect that they've rightly earned.

Spurs are a machine, even with the Rockets incredible run, I'm not sure we can catch them. Remember, our awesome record is nothing more than just another season for the Spurs. They do it every single year. Do not take them lightly.

    Matchups are everything.

Spurs don't matchup well with us.

I fear okc and especially the Clippers more than Spurs.

Ironically this means we should really try to get a 4th seed and hope to play SA in the 2nd round.

Though I agree with your statement you have to take into account hindsight bias. Though it may look obvious now, at the time, we didn't want to lose Asik, and the potential reward for getting those two to play together outweighed the risk. They had to know if it could work, and they had to give it time. if you think about it, if they had never tried there might still be people on the forums complaining about lack of TT lineup after every loss. They had to give it a shot, and they did. Did they take too long to realize it wasn't working? Maybe. But then again, it can also be argued that any lineup/strategy change needs time to mature and work out the kinks. If you never try, you'll never know.

I hate to say it, but I still think Clippers are better than us. They did beat us 3-0. Even though we were on our B2Bs they still own us every time. We need to beat the clippers then we can say we are the best.

Why wouldn't you just shoot for the #1 seed and hope the Spurs fall to the 3/4?

Clippers and Thunder are the teams that we can't beat in a 7 game series.

Beat me to it. I was looking for quotes with the words "high" and "behold" to counter the thread title.

Spurs have beat all the teams they are supposed to beat (not the case for us, especially beginning of the year). But we have beaten the best teams in the league as much or more than they have beaten us. SAS have been getting crushed by the top tier teams.

Sure, they are the best coached, most fundamentally sound team in the NBA. But until they show me that they have the athletes to keep up, I don't think they are top 3 in the west (OKC, HOU, LAC). Yes, I know they made the finals last year, but the west is much stronger this year (OKC, LAC, and HOU are all MUCH better).
