Screws the Clippers? That would be Sterling's wet-dream. Every single one of those players they get (Mobley, Murphy, Griffin and Hudson) either are still on a rookie contract, or are underpaid.

Personally, I think the Warriors get screwed.

But it was a very interesting proposal to read.

    lol...it was pretty interesting.

Arenas, Garnett, and Yao would be great.

Warriors wouldn't be too screwed. They would havea decent team......

    Never gonna happen though. :)

How does this screw the clippers at all??!!! Huh??!! It actually makes sense on many levels if you just take the time to think about it and not try to dismiss it because it is an insanely big trade proposals. Keep this in mind when looking at this trade.

Clippers: have magor contracts coming up in Dre Brand Odom. They get similar talent (hard to ever get same talent when you want to pay less) for half the price. How does that not make sense to you. They only lost like 4ppg stat wise and Griffen and Murphy can still improve. But money is the key issue here and they get a fan favorite in Richardson (2003 dunk champion) as a bonus to attract fans. They do not get screwed

Warriors: Arenas might leave via fa. I am sure they don't want to rid Richardson or Murphy but watch what happens for them. They rid their low jam at the four (Fortson and Murphy) for one good backup for the same price (of the two combined) in Taylor. But that is not the bonus. Maggette puts up similar numbers to Richardson and same with Dre to Arenas. But that is not the pay off. The pay off is they finally get a contending three, not forcing them to play anyone out of position. Odom makes them strong at all five positions. They don't get screwed.

Rockets: This is very drastic measures, but it should work. Don't fool yourself, we have no chemistry. Arenas is a good pointguard, not a big stepdown from Francis. Moochie backup Francis so I don't see the point in sayying we have no backups. Wilcox backup for Brand. Why do we need a better backup when we get the SECOND best forward in the entire leauge. Wilcox and Fortson are young great bangers that are totally capable of getting 15 rebounds a game between them. This is a CRAZY rebounding team. And Zhi Zhi backup for Ming is really all we need when Ming builds up his endurance for next year.

Timberwolves:They get the 1999 co-rookie of the year tandem of Francis and Brand. They also get a some what legit center in Cato. This team is better than the original. They have two potential 20ppg players now to add to Wally who can put up some decents numbers. This trade makes them a legit playoff contender.

This trade helps every team. The chances of any thought up trade on this board from happening is slim but it is fun to explore all possibilities. I would love this trade to happen and I don't think it is unfair to any team.

Interesting I hadn't heard about the rift between the two. It makes sense given the reason listed, but are there any articles about it? Where does the information come from?

Eddie Jones is a very nice compliment for Steve in the backcourt, and with him and posey at the wing spots, defense wont be a problem. He's underrated here, but big deal.

If I was Les and I got offered this deal, unless I was completely afraid of EJ's health, I pull the trigger in a nanosecond.

You want the big tall defensive scoring and passing two guard to give us a more balanced lineup, Jones fits the bill 100%.

You're right about one thing. It does get the clippers a cheaper payroll. however, f Sterling's main goal is money and selling tickets, think about it this way. Look at the players they're losing. Look at the players they're getting. You're telling me you could say they're making out well to lose their entire starting lineup and get Jason Richardson, Troy Murphy, Cuttino Mobley, Eddie Griffin and Troy Hudson in return? they're the clippers, not the cubs, man.

I know the rap on Sterling is that he wants cheap young talent every year, so he can say "look how young and exciting we are!" but even Clipper fans wouldn't be dumb enough to pay to see that team play. you think any casual basketball fan would look at a the offseason and say "well, we lost Brand, Maggette, Miller, Odom.. but at least we got two Troys in return!" He'd have to come up with a hell of a marketing campaign..

TV Ad: "Hey Clippers fans! I know we just lost all of your favorite players, plus all of our other decent players, but we got a couple of guys who were solid roleplayers on other (mediocre) teams! Come check out a bunch of players you never heard of!"

Billy Crystal: "Great! Where do I sign up?!?"

i'm sure that having a big dumb-looking white guy who's solid, but lacks athleticism like Troy Murphy would be just as exciting to fans as Elton Brand, Lamar Odom, and Corey Maggette.

the only way that trade would sell more tickets for the clippers would be if fans thought the comedian Eddie Griffen was coming to play for the clips.

You didn't address the fact that several key players in the deal are FREE AGENTS. Including Andre Miller. Picture this:

Miller's agent: "Hey dre. I know you have a great offer from Utah. I know you played there in college and would like to go back. But hear me out on this.. How about you agree to a sign and trade to Golden State?"

Miller: "Who actively wants to go to Golden State? well, maybe.. at least it might be fun to play with Jason Richardson."

agent: "umm, actually, he's going somewhere else in the trade."

Miller: "well, at least Arenas will be there, he can slide into the 2. He's a natural 2 anyways..."

    Agent: "ummm.."

Miller: "what? Oh well.. at least that guy Murphy can sort of play.. plus he seems like he knows his role."

    Agent: "...."

Miller: "he's gone too, huh? Well, at least I can get away from those selfish Clippers like Maggette and Odom. Those guys smoke too much pot."

Agent: "well.. actually.. they're both going with you.. and remember Mo Taylor? yeah, that Mo Taylor. I'm sure those guys are all done with rehab now. It'll be great."

Another thing: I'm sure Musselman would be ecstatic to trade away more than half of his starters (which were finally starting to listen to him and play as a team) in exchange for the opportunity to become the coach of the Clippers, part deux. nothing like the stink of ex-clipperdom to kick a rebuilding project into overdrive!

also, since I'm mainly concerned with the Rockets, please provide a depth chart for the team. I don't think it's entirely clear that the Rockets would be significantly better (from top to bottom) with this deal. Sure, I like the starting five better than our current one, but if anyone got injured, we'd be scrounging for NBDL towelboys to run.

Like I said before, it was interesting to think about it for a while though.

McInnis or Crawford would be fine by me. Both can shoot and play defense. McInnis torched Steve when he came off the bench for the Blazers, and Crawford is a big point guard that needs new soroundings.

Jermaine O'Neal would be a monsterous upgrade in talent, but such a sign and trade would be complicated to pull off. O'Neal made $6.9 million this year, meaning that if he got the max contract to which he is entitled starting at $10 million per year, this would be over a 20% raise and would make him a base year compensation player. As such, his cap value would be $6.9 million, meaning Houston would have to send out salaries within 15% of $10 million, but Indiana could only receive $6.9 million in return. Unless O'Neal would consent to only a $8.3 million first year deal (which is less than San Antonio could offer), there would have to be a third team involved that is under the cap to take on a $2-$3 million player, or there has to be a lot more players involved to get the salaries with 15%. To cover a $3 million gap between the $10 million salary Houston is receiving and the $6.9 million Indiana can receive in return for O'Neal, this would mean that Houston would have to receive at least $20 million in salaries in the deal.

As such, you are looking at a multi-player deal. Perhaps it can still happen if we send Rice, MoT, Moochie and Griffin to Indiana in return for O'Neal, Croshere and another player, but it would nonetheless be very complicated (not to mention the difficulty of talking Indiana into taking MoT and Moochie's contracts, although taking Croshere's horrendous deal off their hands might be enough). Or perhaps we throw in Mobley and Indiana throws in Tinsley.

Dude, at least post your "source" for the information. All of this crap is straight from hoopsworld.com and was posted here about 2 or 3 weeks ago. If anyone wants to actually read the piece of crap in its entirety...

    Piece o' crap
