Quote of the Quote of the Playoffs: Clutch City Karma Wins Again!

I've been waiting to jump on Horry for lack of respect for a long time.

You ever notice Robert Horry likes to play down the Rockets championships. After pretending to forget about Clutch City, Horry uses the Clutch City rally cry, but goes 0-16 on 3s in the series, and misses the big Clutch City shot for the first time in his life!

Nice to hear Robert Horry cherishes his Rockets championships so. With the Lakers beginning the championship defense in fifth, Horry has naturally been asked about the season the Rockets defended their championship as the sixth seed, the worst starting position ever to end with a title.

"<b>That was so long ago, I really don't remember</b>," Horry said. "I just know we went in with a lot of confidence."<hr></blockquote>

Then 20 days later he really does remember

Feigen: There might have been other moments when Robert Horry was tempted, but only the most desperate, most special of occasions could move him to play the Clutch City card...

"I told the guys (how) in our first championship year in Houston, we lost our first two games at home," Horry said of the 1993-94 Western Conference semifinals. "We lost both games in the fourth quarter, and we were down 2-0 heading into Phoenix. I told them, `We just have to go out, right the ship and play hard.'"<hr></blockquote>
Moral: Don't disrespect Clutch City as nothing less than great memories you will never forget, then later use it to inspire your teammates.

    Clutch City Karma is real!

    I STILL BELIEVE!

Yeah, and to think some people want Bob back in Houston. For a guy who only shows up in the playoffs, he had a pretty horrible series. Shoot, for a professional basketball player PERIOD he had a pretty horrible series.

Perhaps if he remembered CLUTCH CITY, he wouldn'tve lost game 5 a couple of days ago.

Horry is a flake. He's a decent defender when he cares, bad 3 point shooter PERCENTAGE-WISE and that's pretty much his game. He has no other skills. He's never done anything without a Hall of Fame center as a teamate except throw a towel in his coach's face(gotta give him credit for that one).

Plus he knocked up a franchise icon Hall of Famer's daughter!

Watching him try in vain to guard Duncan this series, I thought to myself, this is not the same guy we had guarding Karl Malone back in the championship years.

or charles barkley, for that matter.

robert horry was able to guard those players because of his length and athleticism. now that his athleticism is leaving him, his strength (or lack thereof) is being exposed defensively.

better question, who would you prefer? a player like horry or a player like najera?

one with talent and little enthusiasm, or one with much less talent but works hard and hustles. i think the rockets problem is they have too many of the former-type players

i remember back in 95, they were saying he would be the next Scottie Pippen. And then, in the first part of 96, he got off to a good start. People were saying he could be the next superstar

Actually Najera has better basketball skills overall.

And just a good defense as Horry, minus the long arms.

Horry never had the ball handing or cooidination to play like Pippen.

He was more a defensive player that could hit 3 point shots under pressure.

    But never a 2nd man, or go-to-guy.

As it stands right now, Horry is a more exprienced Griffin.
I say give Eddie more time, and see what happens.

You must be kidding... Of the whole Mavericks team Najera has the least basketball skills. I would also venture to say he is in the top ten of the worst skills of any starting player in the NBA. Still he is a workhorse and plays with more heart than almost anyone else in the league. That is why he is successful, not because of his talent.

I wasn't debating where he ranked in the leauge. I was comparing him to Horry. And Najera is a overall player than Horry.

Najera is a decent shooter (short jumpshot/dunks), good at offensive rebounds (plays position, uses his body well), can handle the ball on the fast break.

Horry can shoot the 3 better and FTs. He a smart defender. But he sucks at handling the ball, and has absolutly no cooirdination. Watching him create his own shot is down right scary.
