i love the rox, and loving the rockets has always been synonymous with hating the jazz. however, given that flopper stockton has called it quits, should we still hate the jazz next year? if yes, then how about if malone gets traded?

Well, I don't know if that's true, but he certainly said a stupid thing here. I don't hate "the Jazz." Actually I quite like jazz. And I'm also not sure anyone in Utah has ever played it. I hate Stockton, Malone, Sloan and Hornaceck. Two down, two to go. Then I won't care at all about the basketball team in Utah. Til then, yeah and hell yeah I hate em. The kinda hate you get up for rat bastards like Sloan and Malone doesn't go away. You can't put a calendar on it. It's permanent hate, well earned and well delivered. Folks who don't get that might be Rockets fans, but they haven't been Rockets fans for long.
in addition to having all four of them retire, i think it'll take 3 or 4 consecutive years for utah to go without a playoff appearance for my anti-jazz sentiment to subside.

You HAVE to hate the Jazz to be a true Rox fan. Sure mainly it is Sloan, Malone, Stockton, and Hornacek but there is a new crop of jazzholes for us to hate. Matt Harpring anyone? Ak-47, cool nickname but I hate him. Osterfat, hate him as well. The Jazz are still and forever will be number 1 on my s!*t list followed by the Mavs and Lakers.

This isnt college basketball all rivalaries die. Utah and Houston has been done for a while now. The Jazz have continued to be a decent team while the rockets have sucked for years. This is hardly a rivalarly now. With stockton out, horanacak out, most likely malone out. Hating the Jazz is not the same. Utah will get worse than better than they might be some new players that we will start to hate but untill than Utah will just be another game for me to watch.
I will hate them a little less. Thankfully, Malone and Stockton are gone, and IMHO, Harpring doesn't play as dirty - he's just a damn good player. However, they still have Sloan as a coach, so that means the team will continue to rely on flops, moving picks, getting fouls. Also (and this is the big one), their fans are the nastiest SOB's in the league. So...I'll hate them a little less... but I'll still hate them. -- droxford

The hate goes beyond just the coaches and players for me. I even hate all Jazz fans sitting and watching their team in the stands, and I even hate the state of utah, so I doubt I will ever stop hating the Jazz.
