Karl Malone has tallied the 2nd most points in NBA history. If he had rings to back it up, there would be argument that he is in top 10. Kobe has tallied 4th most points in NBA history and his got rings to prove it + his longevity.
There IS an argument that he's in the top 10 all time, just because there are uneducated NBA fans who don't realize it in no way changes that.
Super scrub. Scrub. Super scrub That Laker team was atrocious. Your attempting to use the downfall of this team against Kobe. But the fact is MJ, Lebron, Magic, Bird, never played on teams this horrible. Kobe spent his prime playin with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown. Had he played in the eastern conference that year, they might've got the finals too
You didn't answer the question. Who do you think is higher on the GOAT list...Karl Malone or Kevin McHale?
Something Kobe fans don't realize is that not only was Karl Malone better than Kobe on both sides of the ball, so was John Stockton. Both of those guys should be rated higher on the all time list than Kobe. of course there is always an ignorant segment of NBA fans who value highlight reels and "ringz" more than actual basketball talent.
Really? Do you think his above these players? Jordan Bird Magic Kareem Russell Oscar Chamberlain Shaq Olajuwon David Robinson Lebron Kobe Hmm okay
LOL...why don't you name the starting lineup for Lebron's teams in Cleveland? He dragged that ragged bunch to a number of ECF and even the Finals. Kobe laid down like a two dollar w**** in the fourth quarter of game seven against the Suns. Mo freakin Williams was Lebron's best side kick for a while. MJ is GOAT, but Lebron is the clear second choice out of these three. Only Kobe fabois hanging from the rapist balls could think otherwise. Kobe has one MVP in his glorious run in the 00's. He was never the best player in the league the way Lebron is. Ohhhh...but Kobe > Lebron because of championships. Kobe was not the best player on those teams no matter how much Faker fans like to argue. Shaq 3 Finals MVP to Kobe 0 for those years. Lebron may have two superstars (though I'd argue Bosh is super overrated), but he is clearly and by far the best player on his teams.
Well if you can read between the lines, then you will find the answer....do I have to spell it out? Of course Karl Malone due to his personal accomplishment. As i've said it's a mix of championship and personal accomplishment/dominance
There's absolutely an argument for it...which is what I said. I'd absolutely put him over Kobe, Russell, or Wilt and while David Robinson was better at his peak it lasted what? 8 years?
Over Russell and Wilt? Wow ok. Ok i'll give you that there is an argument his to 10..but it's a thin argument. But if he had a ring or 2...then the argument will hold more weight.
Yes. There's a huge difference between implying something and actually saying it. Karl Malone has better stats and accolades while McHale has more rings. You think Malone is "of course" better. Lebron has significantly better stats and more accolades while Kobe has more rings. Yet you think they're neck and neck?
Rings are irrelevant in a serious NBA conversation about individual players and while the idea of Wilt and Russell is worshiped today, the actual players couldn't have hung with guys like Malone or Olajuwon. Talking up the players from the infancy of the NBA and comparing them to players from MUCH more competitive eras is like trying to argue that Billy Hamilton or Ed Delahanty is the greatest baseball player ever.
I'd argue Lebron has already passed up Bird. Their career stats are pretty damn close and Lebron has a ways to go. Only behind one championship as well.
Not so clear to me. Probably still the winner, but LeBron's assists, rebounds, and durability definitely help him make up for the scoring gap.
NBA basketball is not all about personal stats. Players don't play for personal stats first, its about championships. That is the everest that all players strive for when they first go into the NBA. It's like watching a game where someone scores 40 points but his team loses, then what is the point? No one will really talk about that 40 points after the game.
Okay, then never talk about any individual player. If it's all about team accomplishment, only talk about teams. Induct teams into the HOF, not players.
A good example is Kevin Love. He won't get the respect until he can at least get his team to the play offs. Unless you can take your team to the peak then people won't give them the same respect as people who achived the same personal accomplishments and have gone to the peak in an NBA season
Anyone who can't see and appreciate individual accomplishment or individual talent without team accomplishment isn't anyone I worry about.
