LOL did someone actually say that non-sarcastically? McClain is NEVER right when he says something "will" happen, his only value is when he's talking about things that already happened and even then it's sketchy at best.
If McClain says it isn't happening then it most certainly is happening. Welcome to houston Matt #2, I'm sure you'll suck here as much as you have everywhere in your career
And he walked away from $3.7 million, like he thought he could get more. Maybe by getting two years I guess. I'd rather go after McCown.
NFL media takes McClain a lot more seriously than the fans do, ha. Respected, no one has the Texans beat covered like McClain, no one closer to the Texans than McClain, blah blah blah. The GENERAL John McClain! lulz
i think regarding the texans the media is throwing **** against the wall to see what sticks.. mallett, cassel, osweiler, cousins... sheer speculation and guesswork. it is clear B'OB keeps things close to the vest ala the hoodie.
Cassel just strikes me as a Schaub rerun. That would be demotivating for the fans. I would rather take a chance on Mallet or maybe even Vick.
Short sighted fans might have a problem with it, but you shouldn't ever really care about those people. It's like how Daryl Morey turned the Rockets around without ever tanking, an amazing feat, yet the whole why he had fans crying about what he was doing. The thought of Cassel being the starting QB for the Texans next year isn't exactly exciting to me either, but if it helps build an amazing defense and groom a future QB, it's worth it.
Nothing you say about the GENERAL will get under his skin unless you ask about his health. Next time any of you see him on the street, ask him how he's doing. Tell him you heard horrible things and that you're really glad that he's ok and that all those rumors were wrong. That his heart is just fine, that everything's going to be alright...
LOL, that's just mean. I don't really dislike the guy, it's just that he has no credibility whatsoever so I don't pay any attention to him either. He's made a career putting out whatever BS the Texans want put out there for several years now. If they told him they wanted him to swear that they were taking a long snapper with the first pick, he'd immediately head to twitter and swear up and down that there was no way the Texans were taking anything but a long snapper. He knows that most of what he says is BS, but it's his job to put that BS out there in the world. He doesn't care that his "predictions" have no credibility.
Neither of those guys is the answer. At least you know Cassel would only be a stop gap solution. You'd be more invested in the other QBs, especially Mallett who you'd have to give ups assets to trade for. If you get either of them, then you're probably not looking at a long term QB in this draft. If they fail (and they will) then you're back in this same situation in a few years still looking for your franchise QB. With Cassel, since you know he's short term, you can still be looking for that franchise guy, whether it be in the 1st round this year or next or in the 2nd/3rd round, taking a guy that needs more time to develop.
Henne staying with Jacksonville (2-year deal) <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Henne would've had interest elsewhere. As I tweeted yesterday, the Texans would've been checking in on him. Houston still wants a vet option</p>— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) <a href="https://twitter.com/MikeGarafolo/statuses/441997841524097024">March 7, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I think even if we do sign Cassel, it does not mean we don't take a QB in the first wether at #1 or after a trade down. If you go after Mallet then that's who you think is going to be your franchise QB.
