Does Miami have the worst/cockiest fans in the NBA ?

I have met quite a few during my time in SoFla. Not many "real" fans but a few that have been down with the team since the NBA granted them an expansion team. The fans that love Seikaly, Mash, PJ, Glen Rice etc. (They all love Zo and Tim H so that's a given).

 

Jazz fans are the worst.

 

I think after everyone left Game 6 early, you could make a strong case for Miami fans being the worst. I mean come on, it's THE FINALS.

 

There arent really any hardcore HEAT fans. Most of those scrubs migrated from Cleveland after " The Decision"

 

Stupid argument.

NYC, LA, Chicago, etc. also have lots of things to do. Miami isn't a good sports town, plain and simple. There's no need to make any excuses.

New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Houston, Boston, and San Francisco all have plenty to do, and every single one of them is a better sports town than Miami. Houston and LA are probably the bottom of the cities I listed, in fact. Miami is a crappy sports town because there isn't anybody there that actually feels any love for the city itself. It's about the lifestyle that Miami brings, but there's no pride there for being FROM Miami. Are you telling me there isn't much to do in cities like London, Barcelona, and Munich? Because people live and die by their soccer teams over there too.

 

This has to go to Lakers' fans since their history of vapid frontrunners is a lot more storied.

But the award for fanbase with the worst humans, it's got to go to Utah. But they're definitely not frontrunners.

 

Miami has the worst fans in all of sports. Most Heat fans are new or LeBron only fans

 

Trick question. They have no fans. I lived in Miami in '06 when they won it all. My apartment was within walking distance of the stadium. Please believe me when I tell you, no one noticed. From the 28th floor, with an enormous balcony, I had a pretty good view of the "parade" which outside of team and staff probably numbered in the high teens.

about Miami fan being mostly Lebron fan its true (me included) but remember that Miami is a NEW team, its like when Lakers fan were mostly Magic Fans or Celtics Fans were mostly Bird fan.... i think Miami will develop a team base fan but it will take time

 

Listen now, that is what happens to every single fanbase.

If Rockets go to the final 3 straight years, I promise you a lot of people will have the same cocky perception of us.

The cockiest/annoying fans are the guys that hitch on a team randomly because they are doing good, and brag about being a fan of there's to make people think they are true fans.

 

To answer the question, the Lakers fans are by far the worst.

When the team you root for is winning championships, the fans have a right to be cocky.

When a superstar player is winning championships, it is automatic that most fans who love the sport of basketball are going to get attracted to it.

The Lakers have always won a lot in the history (except from now until who knows) but when teams are winning a lot, fans will get attracted to them.

The same with Michael Jordan, not everybody that is a fan of MJ is from Chicago, when people see great basketball players they are going to become fan,

And now that LeBron is the new winner of the NBA from 2012 on, and is amazing to watch, he has a lot more fans.

 

This shouldn't even be a discussion, laker fans are head and shoulders above every other fans. Their arrogance is through the roof, the way they think every free agent wants to go L.A even though their team is **** right know just baffles me.

Why does it even matter if a city is considered a good sports town or not? Who cares? Miami has a good, fun, team to watch. They have the greatest player on the planet and the fans here enjoy watching the team and rooting for them and talking trash to other teams. There are plenty of amazing places to watch the games in south beach. The downtown area where the arena is is picking up and there are some nice places there on the bay as well. If the team starts sucking again and is no longer fun to watch then people will find other things to do for entertainment. That's what sports is anyways, right? Entertainment?

Let's say Chicago is a better sports town. Who cares? Their team is currently much worse and much less entertaining than Miami's team at the moment so being a good sports down actually wins them nothing. There is no benefit. Look at the Lakers. They suck this year, but its still entertaining to go to a Lakers game - but people actually socializing and going out to bars to watch the games is down. I was just in Irvine a few weeks ago and people don't really care much about the games right now and that's understandable. People get called bandwagoners when they simply gravitate to something that's entertaining and worth rooting for - big deal.
