    Read my posts. I've never liked McHale, think he's a big reason why we won't win a ring.

    Till then, get off your knees.

    Figures that this guy would wait till Harden became the best 2 in the NBA.

    I thought this thread was about Jackson's take on the state of the Rockets, not whether he might, or might not (and I personally think "might not" isn't strong enough) become coach of the Rockets.

    LOL. And you are wrong. How do you counter the fact that McHale's team has reached 40 wins faster than any other team except one in franchise history? McHale will in the next 12 months have the best winning percentage of any head coach in Rockets history. And a critical fact, unless a head coach is willing to implement Morey's strategies there is no chance they will be hired by the Rockets. Did that just pass over your head like a hummingbird?

    I do not cowtow to anyone. Period. Just ask.

    And always first in line to torpedo Howard.

    Anyone noticed that Phil Jackson supports the Asik-Howard Twin Towers?

    Can it not be about both considering both topics were covered in the interview?

    Unless Hakeem steps into a time machine and comes back in '94 form, I don't think Rudy will have any success coaching.

    It should be. But somehow, someway despite my opposition it quickly became a referendum on McHale. I know, I too think it is stupid.

    You have a point, I guess. I just think that the thread will quickly become about Jackson "possibly" coaching the Rockets at some point, and that's been talked about here several times in the past. What intrigued me was that he thinks the Rockets have a real shot at the Finals, and that's actual news, folks. Jackson has a lot of credibility.

    I agree about unless they adhere to Morey, then they won't work here. But again, my complaints with McHale are the following;

    1) No defensive strategy.
    2) Very poor at rotations and minutes; Parsons plays too much as does Bev
    3) Adjusting the offense to excellent defense and limited offensive opportunities. The great teams won't give us 2nd chance points, won't commit turnovers, and with our defense will be able to score rather fine on us. Some creativity offensively and adjustment wise is needed. He has zero capabilities at this; Carlisle has literally out manuevered him two of the last three times we've played. As has other coaches, it's a shame.

    So 40 before 20 is great, but there's leaps and bounds the team could do on the defensive end. As for minutes, I think he is starting to but not yet decrease Parsons with using Hamilton. Lin has been totally sucking big dick, so he has to lean on Bev more but again, Bev is not a 40mpg player or a 30mpg player for that matter.

    When great teams like OKC and IND shut us in, we fail. Same applies to Memphis. We can beat 25 of the other 29 teams, and have great defensive/offensive numbers, the question is against those teams how does our defense fair and how does our offense fair.

    These teams;

    OKC
    IND
    SA
    MIA

    No one else is going to win a ring this year besides these teams; we have 2 outings with Miami, 1 more with Indiana, I believe 1 more with SA and 2 with OKC. If we struggle miserably with IND and/or OKC, it's upon McHale to initiate a change our in defensive philosophy and tinker some things offensively, not just sit on the bench and/or limp across the sidelines.

    Get it?

    I don't think Phil would do that to the lakers and Jeanie buss. Even though he has every right to after how they last treated him with the dantoni hire; just don't see it happening.

    Jtr I totally disagree with your evaluation of Mchale. Yes they have had great success so far, but I have not seen a team that will step up in the playoffs. And with their talent having howard and harden, I don't think their record deserves celebration. But you have every right to argue otherwise, and have enough points to make that argument.

    Only come playoff time will we really be able to judge correctly

    Agreed and I don't think it's gonna happen. I respect Jackson's opinion (who doesn't?), and it is great news that our team has garnered this level of respect.

    I'm probably in the minority most of the time, but I actually like McHale as our coach, too.

    Thank you for the thought you put into this post. It is like honey to me. If you have organized reasoning and a clear intellectual path to your conclusion then you are all right by me. But I have to go. I will respond later. Best to you. And I will respond later.

    I've always thought Phil Jackson's best attribute was knowing when to climb aboard and knowing when to jump ship. It's a skill that many do not possess. Outside of that his ability to manage players better than some was very good.

    Besides I think Morey explained it perfectly when he said play calling was not effective and a coaches main job during the game was player rotation management. I think McHale has improved his rotations. As for the real coaching, I think most of that is done before the game even begins by the assistants and I'm goo with that. The players like McHale and he mostly has a positive impact. He probably cost us a couple of losses early on but not so much now. So I see no need for change at this time. When we do seek change I vote for Finch.
