If Schaub is the quarterback, they should just give up on the season, trade andre, Arian, Duane brown, etc because they won't be doing anything to fix the current problem with this team. Quarterback is the biggest flaw on this team and they wouldn't be helping it
Well given the QB class, if Case Keenum improves from where he was last year, I doubt that it is even possible to draft a QB that would beat him out in an open, fair competition.....which is why it would be completely ridiculous (and a grave error in judgement) IMO to draft ANY QB in the first round. QB is a need, but biggest need?
That could actually work out, schaub with a defense that good. But if you're going for pure comedy- schaub stays, and it goes poorly. Despite demands to change qb's again, obrien insists on continuing to start schaub until he gets fired too. Schaub stays on next year and beyond, getting coach after coach fired, never aging, never retiring. But I still say manziel/keenum/VY would be the most powerful AM radio trio. There would be mad max style factions warring out in the streets by preseason.
If they dont draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round, it will be an open competition. Keenum could start, and see what he got, with other head coach, and if he doesnt work, tank for Mariota or Winston, with Keenum or with a rookie. I think Schaub, still could play as a starter in other team, his time with houston is done, the fans already hate him, and wont stop, even if he wins games. he needs a fresh start, and could be an average QB, I think he is better than sanchez/geno smith, with Jets, or some other starting QBs right now.
It's a mystery to me. I must confess something very unpopular; I've always been attracted to the idea of giving BOB a year to fix Schaub.
I was waiting for Schaub to return to his old ways but he never did. He's a shell of his former self. Prime Schaub was a really good game manager, current schaub is that with even less mobility, what appeared to be a noodle of an arm, and probably all kinds of mental problems at this point. Not to mention half the team probably doesn't have confidence in him anymore.
Awful because it means we wasted the first pick in the draft. Cassel, Jimmy G, Case Keenum is still bad, but it sounds infinitely better because it would mean we did the right thing in the draft.

Game manager AJ McCarron is known to be a good game manager and especially with a good line, won't lose you too many games. Should get him in the third. Ship Schaub out to save for the cap and bring is Cassels who is already familiar with BOB. Pick up a project in Tom Savage or Logan Thomas. Yates and Keenum unfortunately pack up too. Between Cassels and McCarron you should have a functional O.

The best player in franchise history will attempt to find a quick rhythm with anyone the Texans select to lead them. But the 11-year veteran acknowledged he prefers to take the field with a QB who already knows the intricacies of the NFL. “You want a guy that’s going to be able to come in and do the best job and play right away,” Johnson said Sunday during a media event at a downtown Houston restaurant. “Most of the time guys are looking for veterans because they have the most experience, they know what to expect. But sometimes you can find that young guy that can come in and pick it up right away and go out there and make plays for you.” Johnson’s foundation is hosting its inaugural charity golf tournament Monday at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble. The event will benefit the Houston Area Women’s Center. Texans quarterback Case Keenum joined ex-Texans players Vonta Leach and Dunta Robinson in supporting Johnson’s gathering. Keenum, who is fully healthy after missing the final two games of 2013, intends to use the Texans’ overhaul of their coaching staff as an opportunity to prove he can become a starter again. “That’s the beauty of a new coaching staff and a new system, is that everybody kind of starts out at zero,” Keenum said. “We all get to build new relationships and new trust.” Johnson spoke with former starter Matt Schaub about two weeks ago. While many expect the veteran QB to be released when free agency begins Tuesday, Johnson said Schaub recently had the mindset that he would be a part of coach Bill O’Brien’s team in 2014. “I get the feeling that he feels like he’s going to be here. … He’s in good spirits,” Johnson said. “I think this offseason was great for him, just to get away and clear his mind. “As long as (Matt) is my teammate, me and him are going to be working together. Hopefully he’s still here. That’s out of my control but we’ll see what happens.”
If the price is right, meaning if he would restructure his contract for cap relief, I would be fine with him holding a clip board.
