I must say that as a guy who has supported Jeremy Lin since he arrived here, I am shocked and disappointed at how bad he has played over this most recent stretch of games. It is embarrassing and disheartening to see a guy with so much potential fail to realize it for reasons that seem to be more mental than physical. Regardless of how I feel about any player, nobody that puts on a Rockets red uniform is immune to criticism. Players with far better credentials than Jeremy Lin have gotten it from Hakeem to Yao to Francis to McGrady. Damn Jeremy, what happened to you bro? Get your **** together please. Spoiler
That's not going to happen. Why would the Rockets risk losing games just to cater to Lin? Why should the Rockets take minutes away from Beverley just to cater to Lin? If Lin wants more minutes, he has to earn it by improving his game. If he is really so mentally weak that he cannot play well unless he has 30 minutes guaranteed every game, then he won't ever succeed in this league.
Not making excuses for him because he's playing Bad , but if bev shoots as bad as lin, bev will still avg. 33 min. 4 guys are untouchable in the rotation Harden Howard Parsons Beverly
There's also the possibility he was just in it for the $$$ and feels the right to goof off now that he's set for life.
This is the NBA son. Can't afford to handle anybody with kids gloves. If he can't contribute without finding his "rhythm" I don't want him on my team.
Parsons has been benched a couple times early for poor play. Bev has played poor but so has Lin, so it's a double edge sword. It's not so much the poor shooting, but the poor decisions that Lin makes on the court. He'll throw the up court passes and more times than not it occurs in a turnover. He'll drive and force things and jump in the air with no idea where to go. He'll try to squeeze passes into tight windows and resulting in turnovers. His turnovers are bad since they are usually live balls which results in fast break points for the opposing team. Lin doesn't seem to have any gears and always looking to push and force things when he shouldn't.
He's not exactly set for life unless he invests properly. I'm sure if his cult donated on a daily basis he might be (which is a real possibility) but I think he genuinely loves basketball... just isn't very good at it.
There is a clear reason why too. BeverlEy leaves 100% effort on the floor. Anyone who watches the games and doesn't see that is either blind or stupid. Lin hasn't only played poorly offensively (THOSE STUPID AND INEXCUSABLE PASSES!!), he has been horrible on defense. Running under screens, bad switches, and just getting beat doesn't help him earn playing time. Coaches like to see effort and determination. Not lackadaisical play on both sides of the ball. Confidence has a major issue (I think) and therefore he is appears to be mentally weak. Mentally weak players never go far, especially a one trick pony skill set. It appears he is completely ineffective unless he is the main ball handler. Well he won't get that here and he needs to adapt quickly or he will be on the bench for good.
I honestly think it's best to sit him for the next 3 games. Tell him upfront why. It may be his injury hasn't healed, it may be 'mental injury', as someone else put it. And don't put him back in unless he comes in at full strength. No kidding. Sit him for the team's good, sit him for his own good. And we can also let Canaan have a bit.
Lin needs to see a pimp who will a give him a couple of backhands before the start of a game. Dude is playing beyond meek You're not doing it right.
