A big grin does not make that a joke (if it was meant to be one). If it wasn't meant as a joke then you're upset because YOU think that this fat black guy is cool? Or upset because YOU think that fat white guys aren't cool. Or maybe you're just jealous of guys that YOU consider cool. Either way you're an....excuse me, your statement was idiotic.
You've got it all figured out...smart guy. Whatever your talking about you pretty much came up with via your own idiocy. Yea...I was being serious...okay. Weak attack, man. Weight and race are clearly controversial topics which I played together in an obvious joke. So, you didn't care for it. Now, I don't care for you. BFD
I still think there could have been something deep-rooted there but let's just agree to disagree. Now to get the thread back on topic. I watched the show for the first time with my daughter last week and I thought that all of the four finalists were talented. I took a liking to Ruben and Clay especially but Clay's feminine hip movements soured me on him. I hope that Ruben wins.
Yea...the only something there is the semi-truth of which the joke is rooted. Heavy black guys are common in the music business as singers or rappers while heavy white guys are not. What you don't seem to understand is that was the whole point of the joke...to play on that aspect of the music business. It's an acceptable image and practice for obese black guys to be and have music careers as rappers or singers while I can't say I've seen the same thing for white obese guys. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't know of any. You tend to find obese white guys in the field of comedy. There is nothing more to it other than what your formulating in your own mind. I would hardly call that a joke based on idiocy when there is truth there. There's nothing deep-rooted or personal there in the least. Maybe if I was a struggling obese white singer trying to make it in the biz there would be...but I'm not so...
Geez, I think that this year's finalists are a hell of a lot better than the ones we had last year. Justin Guarini is pathetic and Kelly Clarkson is nothing special. Both Reuben and Clay are great singers. Kimberly Locke was pretty good too; much better than her counterpart Nikki last year. BTW, I am totally rooting for Reuben, but I think Clay will win in a landslide because he fits the typical boy band image (young, thin and WHITE).
Opera singers and other musical theater singers.. Plenty of fat white guys.. The only pop star I can think of is John Popper (Blues Traveler) and he is now quite svelt.
